KFDM COOP Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Texarkana Texas High junior quarterback Ryan Mallett (6-7, 235), one of the nation's top quarterback prospects, said Tuesday that he has orally committed to Michigan. Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a recruit in the Class of 2007 can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 7. Mallett, who may be the top recruit in the state, said he picked the Wolverines over Florida State, Alabama, Oklahoma and Notre Dame. In other recruiting news: •TCU picked up its first two oral commitments, getting pledges from Fort Bend Marshall running back Jamarion Cavness (5-9, 180) and Kennedale free safety Chez Thomas (5-11, 195). •Euless Trinity offensive lineman Manaaki Vaitai (6-4, 295) said he has committed to Brigham Young. •Houston Bellaire cornerback Lionel Smith (6-4, 170) said he has committed to Texas A&M.
