Astros Penalty

The problem is, how far would you want the net be thrown. Would it include just the players that participated which may be difficult to prove or would it include the entire team who probably had knowledge? Do you punish someone for just not being a whistle blower? I think it would get very messy to single out those most guilty.

I'm not worried about getting messy, it needs to get messy to send a message to everyone in MLB.  I do agree that it would be almost impossible to prove who did or did not participate in the cheating.  You could eliminate all pitchers from the astros since the cheating happened at home games only.  After that it's all speculation unless a player admits to it.

I would like to know how this all came about.  Why was the camera put in?  Who put the camera in?  Who decided to use it and who came up with the system?  Alex Cora has been outed as the mastermind, but did he do it alone?

I feel like there's probably been people doing this since the 80's when cameras got good enough to do it. Anybody else feel this way?

Yes, thank you. Sign stealing is 100% by every team. Why does a catcher give the sign hidden between his legs? Why do they change signals when an opposing runner is on 2nd base? It happens. I think the sophistication of the system is what got the Stros in so much trouble, plus the WS ring and another appearance......in which they LOST EVERY HOME GAME. So how advantageous was it really? Wasn’t it 2 years ago that the Stros were ROAD WARRIORS?

I still don’t know how to feel about this. Every game this year we are going to see “Cheater” signs in the stands. But hey, the Patriots survived, so “Let’s Go Astros!”

Come on guys, don’t try to make this ok by saying everyone does it. There’s a huge difference in sign stealing on the field and using technology to do so. If the catcher is dumb enough to put 1 finger down while I’m on 2nd, that’s on him and is part of the game. If I’m using a camera in centerfield to show the signs of the catcher then using some other form of technology in the dugout to receive those signs, that’s cheating.

I don't think that's what they're saying...that's not what I'm saying anyways. It is cheating, end of story. I just don't think that the ones who were caught were the only ones doing it. I feel like there should be more of an investigation.

I don't see this being a wide spread issue across MLB due to free agency and players constantly moving from team to team.  Too many people would talk if they knew this was happening.  It only takes one unhappy player or member of the organization to expose this type of cheating scandal.  Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to risky to me.
