Kelly08 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Just wondering who everyone thought lost the most? I think i heard somthing about Vidor losing 11 players or somthing like that. PNG losing a few KEY players and so on. I know that Nederland is going to be looking good but I was just wondering what everyone else thought.
RonBurgundy68 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Vidor lost 8 starters and 5-6 bench players... so this season is going to be a difficult one for them...however they do return 2 2nd team all-district players in Tim Reynolds(sr) and Travis Greenway(jr)... look for them to lead the team...A few players to look out for: Victor Ortega(soph), Bret Harris(sr), Alec Johnson(jr), and Jacob Grant(soph)...This season should be interesting as to who is going to get the last playoff spot, but im pretty sure its going to be:1. Central2. Lumberton3. Nederland
soccer247 Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 png and vidor lost the most talent for sure
Kelly08 Posted July 31, 2007 Author Report Posted July 31, 2007 So... who all did Vidor and PNG lose thats going to make that big of a difference??
RonBurgundy68 Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Vidor lost the defensive MVP Payton Smith, and their 3 captains and 1st team all-district picks Austin Greenway, Jacob Jackson, and Reid Biffle. They also lost all of their defense and bench players... so they are going to be real young this year, look for them to be a contender in the next 2-3 years...
Bon_Mot Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 I agree that Vidor lost a lot good players and great leaders. I have a feeling that they will have some guys step into those roles in the next few years, though.I think West Brook lost a lot good talent this year, too.
RonBurgundy68 Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 But I see Nederland taking the top spot the next 2-3 years... Just last year with almost nothing but freshman/sophomores, they battled and almost got a playoff spot...
sharkfutbol Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 vidor did lose alot of strong talent. going to be hurting for sure. Nederland will be a year away from taking top spot... lumberton is still loaded with talent... but two and three years.. yes. young group and some freshman coming in this season will be strong also. PnG will be looking around for players...
Jsmity Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 WB lost alot of strong players such as Linthicum, Mantabano, Rios, Ray, Brady..... those guys will be hard to replace... but Jacob Pallone returns along with Dean Laurer and Jacob Fairchild who are all three year varsity members and play at a top club level... hopefully The Brook will be able to return to that elite soccer powerhouse it was just a few short years ago...
pigskinmom Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 isn't vidor down another coach too?
RonBurgundy68 Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 yes, but now they got a soccer specific coach, not a football one...
WTB Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 i dont see Nederland taking the top spot considering Lumberton has everyone back including the district MVP and have actually improved at goalie. only guys they are losing is Garza and Sparks
bullets13 Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 i voted for HJ. you didn't say anything about when they lost it. HJ lost a ton of quality players between 99-01, and hasn't recovered since.
