You think?  From what I'm hearing, Duncanville will have to replace one...

I admire your optimism. However hell will freeze before before either of those 2 qualified assistant coaches from proven programs will land the United job. JMO, it's a pipe dream to think those in power will do the right thing will. It may sound pessimistic but that old buddy system is still alive and well. I hope they prove me wrong.

Staying local same results...Lock the back door !.... 😎

After a conversation that I had yesterday, I agree with you.  The candidate from Duncanville wants to "clean house" but was told he couldn't, so he probably took his name out of the running along with any other outsider...

Everybody wants a good head coach until a good head coach has to do good head coach stuff.

Smh sad but true former Ozen and current United assistant football coaches and their and Stipends are treated like Associate Supreme Court Justices " Life Time Appointment" no matter who's hired as the Head coach. It's insane to handicap a new hire from from building his own program and staff. Mission accomplished

eliminate the top shelf candidates then hire someone that will keep those nice guys thats on staff. How do they sleep at night jmo...

I have been openly critical of the UIL in the past, primarily due to three issues. First, watering down the playoffs. I, as many others do, stand by that 100%. Second, the ever increasing overreach, taking more and more control away from the local levels (as you will soon see "playoff ready" venues forced on you soon). Third, almost complete capitulation on transfer enforcement. It remains a joke.

With that said, I think this years realignments across the state are OUTSTANDING. Of course there are a few schools that got a tough draw (Shepard, and some West TX schools, etc,) but overall, the districts are probably the most geographically sensible I have ever seen. I love the way they consolidated many ISD's into their own districts, like all the Fort Bend schools being together, etc. They did an espicially fantastic job on the west side of the state.

I am amazed they made so many 8 team districts, followed by many 6 team districts. Skimming through I only noticed one 4 team El Paso district (5A-1, District 1), and they explained their rationale well on the FSSW Realignment show. I hope this mindset continues. WELL DONE, UIL!

Shepherd is appealing their placement in 10-4A-II (Jasper, Carthage, et al) and are asking to opt up into 10-4A-I (Livingston, LC-M, Huffman et al)

If Shepherd is allowed to move up to 10-4A DI, wonder what non-district games the following teams will drop that have already been scheduled?

Huffman

Little Cypress-Mauriceville

Livingston

Lumberton

Splendora

Vidor

That, plus the 10-4A-II schools are now scrambling for a 6th non-district.

I was wondering why Livingston didn't schedule Shepherd. Then I opened the newspaper and it lays it all out.

They're really small. I feel bad they didn't drop the 3A. Their travel sucks. But it sucks for all the small schools. High Island has to play leggett Goodrich, zavalla, burkeville, etc because there's no one around their size.

There's just not a good way to do this where everyone is going to be happy, especially in football. I wish they would make the split after district like the old days. The basketball districts at least look plausible and makes it easier to follow the rivals all year long because you see them at basketball, track, baseball, etc. District games are barely above non district because you only see the school once every two years if you don't go to road games.
