Anyway, back on topic.  I Think everything will work out.  This guy he experience.  He has a reason to stay since he's a hometown guy.  He's tasted playoff success and probably ha a good network going with coaches.  The !pat important thing is he was under one of the best coaches in the state.  That along with a weak bottom rung  of district and the athletes he'll have at his disposal, I think he'll do fine...

Under one of the best coaches in the state or under one of the best recruiters in the state?

I agree that BISD puts very little thought into hiring football coaches. If you look at the reputation BISD had in the past in regards to talent versus now. We used to be a "must stop" for recruiters. Now we are a "drive-by" destination. PA does a better job.

False. Over 50 kids from WB have signed to play football at the next level over the last 3 seasons plus a number of athletes from other sports.  Even the big time schools still go in there to look at kids.

That's one school. I said BISD.  Lookup the district's past reputation for football.

Maybe instead of using BISD we should just refer to the school by name?..Kids have to have to talent to get looked at which we can all agree BOTH Beaumont schools have talent.  The 2nd step is the coaches getting kids information/film in front of the recruiters which seems like one school is doing a better job than the other at that.

This part has not been good at all the past 2 years.  Hopefully that changes with Graham...

Lets hope so.  The way HS sports is now most kids want to play ball no matter what sport they're playing.  The more kids a school signs, chances of more players coming out increases.

Look at BC for example, labeled a baseball school because so many kids just play baseball because they have a chance of playing at the next level. I'd be willing to bet if BC got all of the baseball kids on the football field they would be better. Side note, Johnny Dishon and younger brother both played football at BC, 1 went to LSU and the other to Ole Miss for baseball. BRING BACK THE MULTI SPORT ATHLETE AND ATHLETICS WILL BECOME BETTER.

That second part also falls on the parents as well. Just not the coaches.

True. Have to get the community back into having a competitive athletic program instead of just trying to be good at a one or two sports. We see that a lot of smaller schools can do this well but somehow has been lost as you move up classifications.

It goes both ways too.  Football coaches/parents should encourage athletes to play other sports like basketball/baseball and/or track instead of just training year round for one sport.  The competitive mindset is a hell of a tool in athletics.

You own it, but anyone doing hiring or with any sense of the landscape of HS football on a statewide level knows some jobs are simply impossible to succeed at....Graham has clearly demonstrated he's capable of leading good teams...as much as we like to put importance on coaches, in the end you've got to have the personnel to compete...he'll have the personnel at United at the 5A level

If he has linemen then he has a chance....1st and foremost tou must have a Line...offensive and defensive...is there any true size at United

From the article: The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously last week to become a "sanctuary city," categorically withholding any municipal assistance to federal immigration authorities despite a bevy of illegal immigrants arrested there for violent crimes and even violence against children this year.  The 13-0 vote last Tuesday comes weeks after President-elect Donald Trump's ballot-box victory and in the same year that dozens of illegal immigrants were picked up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers in the L.A. metro area for murder, homicide and assault against children.  So far this year, Los Angeles ERO has arrested 1,263 illegal immigrants in the metro area so far this year, and 715 of them had criminal convictions, according to ICE data. The agency gathered 19,726 noncitizens between 2021 and 2024, and 7,255 of them, about 36%, had prior criminal convictions. That includes 26 illegal immigrants with pending charges or convictions for murder, homicide and assault against children who were arrested in the Los Angeles area during a nationwide operation from Jan. 16-28, ICE said.

    • Take a look at this chart.  It shows how many kids per year transfer outside of the District WHILE LIVING IN GCCISD DISTRICT.  They reside within GCCISD, but attend school outside of it.  These numbers are straight from TEA. “TEA maintains data on students living in Goose Creek CISD who attend other public schools”, So we’re not even talking about kids whose families move or who use MeeMaw’s address.  That’s 100+ per year who still live in GCCISD and hitch a ride out to BHISD and back each day.  A lot of cars in that car rider line out of Baytown.  You think at least 10% of them aren’t athletes?  Maybe more like 20%?  C’mon, man, it’s plain to see and like I’ve been telling other folks ALL the successful programs do it.  It’s just gonna get a LITTLE harder to do it after 8/1/25, that’s all.  Won’t stop it, might not even slow it down much, but it’s gonna affect things a bit.
    • I forgot basketball is Division 1 and 2 now. So BH may have a chance
    • BHISD isn’t all Riceland, there’s plenty of cheaper houses, trailer parks, RV Parks, etc and I hear there’s Apartment Complexes going in soon.  Also, you don’t even have to move there as long as you’ve got a MeeMaw or Auntie in BHISD zone, you just sign an affidavit that your kid is living with MeeMaw or Auntie and they’re in.  Don’t take my word for it, I already posted GCCISDs numbers showing twice as many GCCISD kids are transferring to BHISD than to the other surrounding Districts, 100+ per year.  If only 10% of those are for athletic purposes that’s 10 athletes a year minimum and I’m willing to bet it’s a little higher.   What’s also true and the point I was trying to make there is that as Riceland fills up it’s definitely going to change BHISD.  Those homes start at $500k and run up past $1M.  Gonna be a lot less “Country” and a lot more White Collar.
