The Bears were 3 points away from the playoffs last year, falling 15-12 to Nederland. Many are looking for 2007 to be the year for LC-M to get over the hump and get into the postseason once again.Key Wins Last Year:PN-G (42-0)Ozen (33-0)Last Year’s Scores:Conroe Caney Creek 21 LC-M 12WO-S 35 LC-M 14LC-M 47 Houston Kashmere 0Central 27 LC-M 14LC-M 42 PN-G 0LC-M 33 Ozen 0Dayton 35 LC-M 0Nederland 15 LC-M 12LC-M 20 Lumberton 7LC-M 20 Vidor 10Offensive SummaryLC-M lost Marvelous Driver (Kilgore) to graduation, but both the QB and RB return for the Bears in 2007 as President Driver and Kendrix Salter return off a unit that averaged 21 points per game in ‘06. They were huge assets to the Bear offense last year as Driver completed 45 passes for 809 yards and 10 touchdowns and Salter rushed for 724 yards and 9 touchdowns. Both should be major contributors again this season. Other Offensive Impact Players:Phillip Richard (WR)Defensive Summary4 starters are back on defense for the Bears in 2007. Last year the Bear defense was stingy, allowing just 14 points per game. The main defensive weapon back for LC-M is LB Joseph Viator. He is the Bear’s top defensive return as he had 97 tackles in ’06. Look for the Battlin’ Bear defense to once again keep them in each game in 2007.Other Defensive Impact Players:Jared WinbushThe Battlin’ Bears have the best schedule in all of Southeast Texas in that they only have three away games all year. All three of the Bear’s non-district games will be played at Battlin’ Bear Stadium against Caney Creek, WO-S and Houston Kashmere. Two key games for the Bears will be the two road games against the Mid-County teams, PN-G and Nederland.
