As per team policy, terms of the contract were undisclosed.Cook, 23, is a 2007 graduate of the University of Michigan and a 2003 fifth-round pick (#142 overall) of the Ottawa Senators.While at Michigan, the 6-4, 220 pound defenseman registered eight points (1-7-8) while anchoring the Wolverine breakout and penalty-kill.“I always try to make that good first pass out of the zone,†the Montclair, NJ native said, “Special teams are so important, especially in the college game. You learn how to play tough and physical without racking up the penalty minutes. You hate to put your team down a man when it’s your job to keep the other guys from scoring.â€Cook registered 133 PIM during his four seasons at Michigan and a mere 14 in 2006-07.“Tim’s a very solid, stay-at-home defenseman from one of the elite programs in U.S. college hockey. His type of size and ability will translate well onto the professional level,†said Wildcatters Head Coach/ V.P. of Hockey Operations Malcolm Cameron.Cook’s contributions extend beyond the hockey rink. While at Michigan, Cook was twice honored on the CCHA Scholar-Athlete Team and was the 2007 recipient of the CCHA’s Illitch Humanitarian Award, given to a single player annually for contributions to team, school, and community.In 2001-02, Cook was teammates with 2006-07 Wildcatters defensemen Keith McWilliams on the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. “We are very excited to add Tim to our lineup and I look forward to seeing the big blueliner in a Wildcatters uniform this October,†said Cameron.
