The Panthers were greatly outmatched and fell 60-0 to finish the year and 4-7. Liberty will look to QB John Erik Zalesak to be the offensive leader along with HB Michael Flores. Josh White moves to the FB position after starting at LB for the past 3 seasons. The Panther offensive line will be led by C Ethan Ballinger and OG Jake Sell.Defensive SummaryLiberty also has a strong nucleus returning on defense. 8 starters are back on that side of the ball for 2007. Last season the Panther defense allowed 27 points per game and should improve on that number this year. The defensive leader will be LB Dante Winters who finished 2006 with 99 tackles. The Panther secondary should be very good led by FS Steven Gee and SS Justin Dalco. Also look for Liberty to have a very strong defensive line with the likes of NG Arlando Senegal, DT James Riddick and DE Cullen Casey.Other Defensive Impact Players:Jeffrey Gibbs (CB)Liberty will open the 2007 season on the road at Bridge City in week 0. Week 1 will see Liberty at home to take on the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns. A huge non-district game looms on September 21 when the Panthers welcome Kirbyville. Liberty opens 22-3A play on October 12 with a tough road game at Coldspring. PANTHERPLAYA09 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Share Posted August 22, 2007 gibbs played second team defense along with goodman and dalco...but all three had alot of time of offense saturday..gibbs probably averaged around 15 ypc last saturday against sante fe...we looked pretty good throwing the ball even though we didnt throw much...seems like the protection up front isnt up to par yet....i dont think we will throw much vs. bc...but i do think we will work more on our passing againt orangefield this friday...
