A Few Area School Ratings

I thought you all would like to see this.  I was a little shocked to see the WOS High School score!!!!  Coop... if there is a spot to put this, please move it!!  Thanks

The Texas Education Agency released its Accountability Ratings for 2006-2007 and the Orangefield Independent School District was the only district in the county to receive a Recognized rating.  OF Elementary and Junior High also received Recognized ratings while the high school was Acceptable.  The Little Cypress-Mauriceville ISD received an Acceptable rating along with Mauriceville Elem., LCJH, and LCM HS.  LCE was the only campus in the county to receive an Exemplary rating, while LCI and MMS were Recognized.  WOCCISD received an Acceptable rating but the high school received the only Unacceptable rating in the county.  Anderson, Oates, and WOMS were Acceptable.  The Bridge City ISD and all of their campuses received Acceptable ratings.  Vidor ISD along with the junior high and high school were Acceptable while Pine Forest, Oak Forest, Vidor Elem., and VMS were Recognized.  From top to bottom the schools are ranked as Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable, and Unacceptable.

maybe teachers could teach these kids if we did not have to worry about teaching taks.  In another thread it was talked about coaches cussing their players.  We have teachers who can not teach because they may make a parent mad.  So they must over look alot of different things.  Teachers have had all of their power taken away so now we are left with babysitters in a class room to teach a stupid test that you must pass to be able to walk graduation night.  It does not matter that you passed all 12 years of school.  Parents if you have a child who is borderline on taks get involved now dont wait the week before graduation to plea why your child should walk.  Each school has the final say if the students get to walk.  BC choose no last year.  Sad choice.

TAKS is ruining schools. Take it from someone who deals with it every day (we were rated "recognized"). And it's not just a problem at WO-S. Silsbee HS, Jasper HS and Deweyville HS are among the other local HS that were "Academically Unacceptable," as well as middle schools in Silsbee and Port Arthur. NO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS rated above "Acceptable," which is one notch above "unacceptable."
