Schools canceling athletic events

Maybe the best point I’ve read on this subject yet.  And I’ve read wayyy too much.

Same with baseball, track, golf and other outdoor sports. That's too dangerous. But put all those kids in an enclosed space with adults who are more vulnerable to this particular virus because that makes perfect sense.  Oh, and don't let those nasty parents bring outside food to kids at lunch because they might be sick.  The people making these decisions get the bonehead of the century award. You can't have it both ways. Either go with the stupid idea that we are going to contain mother nature and prevent spread of a virus that many of us in setx already have anyway and just haven't been tested, or manage it with a controlled spread which doesn't overburden the health care system. But to contain, you can't put the kids and teachers in classrooms. And to control, it makes more sense to continue certain events and limit outside groups. Athletes at outdoor sporting events with only key personnel makes more sense than kids and teachers in the classroom if your true concern is public safety. But guess who doesn't get that state money if those kids aren't in the classroom?

How many schools in Setx are closed next week

East chambers, Anahuac, and Barbers Hill have all cancelled next week.  Hamshire Fannett is out until Thursday to give administrators a chance to better evaluate the situation, and they say if (when) we have a local case they could close for 3-4 weeks.  Other districts are on spring break and have a week to see how things play out

Some schools are telling the parents they have to come pick up work or they can get it online. What about the kids, like bus riders for example, that can't get a ride up there to get work? And what if they don't have internet access at their home? Are those kids going to be held accountable on grades?

All stupid in my opinion, everybody stay safe and don't worry about school work.

We are just going to pick up where we let off if we start back.  We are feeding kids that need it.  So far under control.  We will deal with whatever comes up.
