As I understand it, if the school district remains open, the kids are allowed to practice...Since district play is out, could schools still schedule non-district games and let these boys play ball during this time?

No.  No interscholastic competition until March 30th.

Local districts are allowing practicing right? So could a "scrimmage", not a game, still take place?

Read my lips, you cannot pit your school's players against another schools players, whether you call it game, scrimmage, tiddly winks, what the heck ever.

Heard some of our kids were heading for powerlifting regionals and it got cancelled as they were on their way

Well, it actually got cancelled the evening before. They never got on the road. Still a huge disappointment.

I hear ya but allow me to play devil's advocate a little more. Do you find it odd that government, state health authorities and TEA leave it up to the local districts to decide whether or not it is safe to put kids and teachers all in the same building and classrooms but a decision like playing a pickup game in the outdoors is a punishable offense. That decision can't be made by local districts.

Oh, I get the hypocrisy that you are talking about and I agree that is what it is.  In fact, I would not be surprised that if you see a spike in increased positives that that the Governor follows the lead of our neighbors to the East.

And come Monday morning, my child would not be in a classroom.

In Lumberton, beginning Immediately, no more extra-curricular activities. Can’t eat lunch with your child or even bring him lunch to the school. But what is this really accomplishing. Does ANYBODY even remotely agree with this? Please explain, so I can understand.

UIL now says no “official team” practices except for during the school period until March 29th

several schools are having "unofficial" official practices. it will be interesting to see how the UIL address this.

Schools in Texas shut down till May 4th now.

This now will likely force districts to have a district tourney if schools even come back for this school year.

I see UIL sports over for the year.

Sadly, I think you're right.

Sucks for all schools, but PNG and BC had a chance to make a good run this year.

BC had their best chance in many years.

orangefield had a good chance to make it to state before heading back up to 4a.

PN-G wasn't going to get past MB or santa fe
