KFDM COOP Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 LC-M falls twice; OF splits in VidorOrange Leader SportsThe Orange LeaderMOUNT BELVIEU — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears lost two straight Thursday at the Barbers Hill Tournament falling in three games to Baytown Sterling and in four to Barbers Hill.Sterling downed the Lady Bears 25-16, 25-16 and 25-11 to complete the three-game sweep. LC-M (1-2) was then downed 13-25, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-13 by the host Lady Eagles.Sophomore Christine Sicktich had a monster day with 24 kills, three blocks and an ace while Jordyn Davis put in nine kills, an ace and a block.Kristi Trahan finished with six kills and a block in the two matches while Morgan Blohm added three kills, two aces and a block.Carly Gauthier put in six kills and two aces, Maci Wilcox finished with two kills, Kinsey Staudt had two kills and Brittany Wiegand and Shayna Sheppard each had an ace. Kaci Olsen finished the day with a kill and a block. Shepard and Wiegand were noted for their defense.OrangefieldThe Lady Bobcats went 2-2 Thursday at the Vidor Tournament with wins over Port Arthur Memorial and Houston C.E. King while losing to Lumberton and Vidor.The Lady Bobcats (3-2) took out the Lady Titans 25-17 and 25-20 with Laura Riddick leading the way with six kills and Allie Beach knocking home four.Orangefield then downed C.E. King 25-16, 21-25 and 26-24 behind six kills from Riddick and two aces from KK Little. Aimee Scales had three kills in the game and Jessica Maass finished with two.Lumberton then downed Orangefield 25-8 and 25-21 as Riddick finished with a team-high four kills.To finish the day off the Vidor Lady Pirates beat the Lady Bobcats 28-26 and 25-22.Riddick had four kills in the finale while Olivia Wagner had two and Beach had three kills.
