KFDM COOP Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Spikers back at itOrange Leader SportsThe Orange LeaderIt will be a busy night again for area volleyballers tonight as non-district and tournament action gets going.Two Orange County teams will battle it out at West Orange-Stark High School as the Lady Mustangs will make their home debut against the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears.Freshmen will start at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Bears opened the season with a four-game victory over the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns 20-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-21.Christine Sicktich lead LC-M with 11 kills, three aces and two blocks. The Lady Bears will first play in the Barbers Hill Tournament before making their way back to face WWO-S lost in four games to the Port Arthur Memorial Lady Titans 25-12, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22.Orangefield and its new coach Linda Riddick will make their home debut as well against the Buna Lady Cougars.The Lady Bobcats got off to a nice start with a three-game sweep of the Deweyville Lady Pirates 25-15, 25-18, 25-18.Laura Riddick got off to a quick start with 13 kills and five aces while KK Little added 17 assists. Fellow District 21-3A competitor Bridge City will continue its tough stretch of non-district play by traveling to Nederland.The Lady Cardinals participated in a tri-match Tuesday and fell to state ranked Barbers Hill 25-10, 25-10 and 25-10. Bridge City then lost 25-14, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-20 to the PN-G Rock-A-Noos, a perennial power in District 22-4A.Audrey Myers finished with a total of 20 kills in the two matches while Lauren Angelle added 15.Vidor will travel to Woodville.On Saturday Vidor will be back to playing host to its tournament with Orangefield attending and LC-M will participate in the Barbers Hill Tournament.
