jake94 Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Interested on everyone's thoughts about this scrimmage matchup.. It will be a full game scrimmage from what I hear. I think it should be a good battle. I hear that Jasper has a much improved team and is built for speed. Nederland is breaking in a new offense and has a much improved defense. I will be making the trek to Jasper to watch the battle of the Dogs. Predictions?
Bobcatfan4life Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 I would love to see this one!!You've already commited to a scrimmage friday! ;D

jake94 Posted August 20, 2007 Author Report Posted August 20, 2007 Friday night, gas. I am anxious to see Jasper. I heard they looked good against PN-G.
jasperolinemen Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I SAY JASPER BY 2, COACH TOLD US TODAY THAT WE WILL RUN A SCRIMAGE AND THEN PLAY A "LIVE" HALF, I BELIVE THAT NEDERLAND IS GOING TO BE TUFF, BUT I BELIVE THAT WE WILL BE OK NOW IF IM WRONG I WILL ADMIT IT, BUT I BELIVE THAT JPT WILL COME HOME WITH A VICTORY
jake94 Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 I hope they change their minds and just play a full game like last year. Much more fun for the fans to watch and I think the players are more into that.
Guest Luv Ya Blue Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Yea i enjoy the game scrimmages much better myself.
akifan94 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I say Nederland. Jasper would not beat PN-G in a simulated scrimmage.
NHS82 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I'm looking forward to Vidrine returning to WR this Friday. I hope Brady returns this week, too. I want to see our complete starting WR package against Jasper. What offensive set does Jasper run? I've heard Jasper looked solid last week.
Jasperdog94 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I'm looking forward to Vidrine returning to WR this Friday. I hope Brady returns this week, too. I want to see our complete starting WR package against Jasper. What offensive set does Jasper run? I've heard Jasper looked solid last week. I think Jasper still runs the spread offense.
Jasperdog94 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I say Nederland. Jasper would not beat PN-G in a simulated scrimmage. From the comments I've heard about the controlled scrimmage (both PNG and Jasper fans) it sounded like the teams were evenly matched. I don't know how you can say Jasper wouldn't win. It could go either way IMO.
akifan94 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 It could go either way. I think PN-G would win due to numbers (depth) and of course I am biased ;D. Jasper has the size and speed to make some noise in 3A.
BHFAN Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Found this on the Houston Chron.22-4A: Nederland linebacker Dravannti Johnson (44) is one of the state's top defensive players.
AggiesAreWe Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Dravannti didn't look too good against Silsbee last Saturday night. Silsbee's quarterback made him look silly on a few occasions. He never really made an impact at all during the entire scrimmage. He has great size but I wasn't too impressed with his speed. Like an earlier post had mentioned, he may have been just going through the motions, who knows.
jake94 Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 I agree AggiesAreWe. He is no doubt a great player, but did not always bring the intensity on every play. Toward the end of the year last year, he really stepped up, especially in the PN-G game. I thought he had an OK game the other night, but several guys on the defense had great games including #2 Grogan and #73 Stewart. Johnson is no doubt a force to be reckoned with though as is Gutierrez #38 at LB. Dogs defense will be much improved this year. I think you can expect big things from your soph QB over there not only this season but for the next two years especially.
godogs Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 He definetly wasn't playing like he usually does. Expect better throughout the season, just the first scrimmage
jake94 Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 Does this game start at 7 Friday night?
