Lady Cards James out at least a month

The Bridge City Lady Cardinals athletics program is breathing a sigh of relief now that senior Brittany James got a bit of good news following a potentially devastating injury Friday night in Nederland.

James was examined Monday for the knee injury and it was found that her ACL was not completely torn and it is listed as an isolated tear. She will get a second opinion today.

The injury, which occurred Friday against the Nederland Lady Bulldogs in a volleyball match, does require surgery and should only have about a month recovery time.

BC volleyball coach Becca Matthews said James will likely have the surgery this week.

Knowing James, a four-year player for the Lady Cardinals, a month will not pass before she is back on the court. She is as tough as they come and will likely work harder than ever to get back into shape.

James also shines on the basketball court for Bridge City and can be seen wrecking havoc in track and field.

She was being looked at by a Hawaiian university for cheerleading.

Get well soon Brittany and The Orange Leader looks forward to seeing you out again.
