TradinUp BH Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 O.K., Does scrimmages help teams get prepared for the season? My opinion is it's for the players on the bubble for the coach to see if there are a few more underclassman that can compete for a varsity postion. Most teams play a three or four game pre-district and I think that should be the time to work the kinks out. I don't feel these scrimmages are that beneficial. What do you think?
PNG Proud Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I think they do. You can practice against your own squad all year, but nothing compares to "real time" action and plays you haven't seen yet.
KFDM COOP Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Especially the game type 4 quarter ones.
Guest Orangeboy Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Does a bear crap in the woods??? ;D ;D ;D
Cardinal Supporter Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I strongly think scrimmages are useful. Especially when a team has a new coach or trying to learn a new offense and or defense. A coach can tell more about what he is trying to teach when he sees it in action against another team that may run a different defense than his own. Teams are more interested in winning than trying to work out the kinks in pre district games.
jake94 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I think they help a lot. I don't think there is a winner or loser in a scrimmage and controlled scrimmages are not that fun for a fan to watch, but they serve a purpose. I like the game type scrimmages best. Those seem to get all the players going full speed. I think the coaches use the controlled scrimmage portions to try players at different positions and establish depth, etc.
TradinUp BH Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 Does a bear crap in the woods??? ;D ;D ;D ;D Have you seen that before? ;D
Guest coachhooker Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 1000000000000000000000% they help, well not that many zeros at the end of 1. but yes because it helps the coaches teach the kids on what they need to do and adjust to, the film study fr the kids is great too
HORNET_HIVE72 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Yes i do think scrimmages help i think it is good to have a time to work everything out. Preseason games are still pretty serious..and you dont wanna go in there not knowing what to do and everything. its good to have a little competition before preseason..
wos08 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Ill save everyone some timeYes they help because (reason)
td Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Does a bear crap in the woods??? ;D ;D ;DYes but it doesn't smell if a tree is falling! ;D
TradinUp BH Posted August 21, 2007 Author Report Posted August 21, 2007 Does it help when you study for a test? Bonehead question! HaI just put it out for discussion, I've noticed that the overall board has added some guys that get on here and rag people instead of just talking football. What up with this?
Bucster Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Players get tired of hitting their team mates in practice. Nothing satisfies like fresh *meat*! ;DScrimmages help the coaches fine tune their teams and help keep the kids enthused and focused on the upcoming season.
tvc184 Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Scrimmages obviously help a lot and there are things that you can do in a controlled scrimmage that you cannot do in a practice game.It is not as fun for the fans but I think it is better in the long run with maybe some game time play at the end.
Guest christglorified Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 I meant it simply in jest scalp em. Accept my apology
TradinUp BH Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 I meant it simply in jest scalp em. Accept my apologyThat's cool, this forum has been a war zone lately. I'm on the edge trying defend PNG and everthing else I write about. I know they help, but heck I'm just trying to think of something to talk different about.
PANTHERPLAYA09 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 i think scrimmages are a huge help. In practice you usually dont get to see defenses do what theyre suppose to do....for example...you get to see how a real defense will react to certain plays...where is in practice you dont see the scout team going full speed doing exactly what a real offense or defense would do...it really helps the players more than the coaches
