LongLiveDavis Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Paul Simms is without a doubt the most consistent 3 point shooter around. I've played against J'covan, and with paul this summer. I know some won't agree, but paul can shoot with anyone in this area.
Lazeek Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 No matter how good he is, he won't get credit because he is from a small school!!!! I agree the kid can stroke it.....basketball that is!!!!!
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 going off what i've SEENJ'CovanThomasand i think its some kid from west hardin i might be mistaken.
BMTSoulja1 Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I realy dont' consider J. Brown a shooter. He's just an all-rounded hooper. I don't consider Thomas a shooter either. He's a slasher and finisher. All of the best shooters have graduated. Last year's senior class was full of them.
whsalum Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Paul Sims from Warren is a pure shooter. He is very consistant and had 1 game this summer where he had 9 -3's.Also shot 82% from the free throw line last year.Tyler Copeland from West Hardin is another that can really light it up from behind the arc.Jarvis Bernard from HJ shoots it real well also.JCovan and Tramain are great scorers but neither are pure shooters.Lots of small school kids out there this year that can shoot it.
texasbasketballfan Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 i think you have 2 put matt andrews in the mix he can shoot
warfan Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Paul and Matt are probalbly the two purist shooters in the area. Paul shoots around 40% from beyond the arc. Matt is deadly 12ft and in and can shoot over most anyone. There are some better scorers (Thomas,Brown etc.) around but give these two a shot and it done. I must add Copeland in the shooters mix as well. Being from a small school does limit their exposure However, being in the district with Kountze and EC will help with that. Last year Kountze had 4 move on to the next level, pretty good I'd say. FYI ,Paul and Matt are graduates of the Leland Hand shooters school.
BWCoach Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Paul Sims of Warren, and Tyler Copeland of West Hardin get my votes. Look for Sims to light it up for 30 plus several times this season with the shooting touch he has. His teammate Matt Andrews is not too shabby either. He has different range, but still very accurate, and like Sims, is capable of having a big scoring night.
texasbasketballfan Posted August 25, 2007 Report Posted August 25, 2007 look 4 warren 2 b verry good this year with paul sims, and matt andrews leading the way they will both averige over 20 points a game paul is the better 3 point shooter but matt is a great shooter from 15 foot in and the kid can realey jump so look 4 him 2 get alought of offensive boards and put backs

UT#1 Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 who are those 3??? paul sims and jarvis bernard get my votes tremain and jcovan are scorers not shooters theres a difference
Guest orangeman Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 Here's my top three in order:1. Copeland (WH)2. Copeland (WH)3. Copeland (WH)Thread closed.
whsalum Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 Here's my top three in order:1. Copeland (WH)2. Copeland (WH)3. Copeland (WH)Thread closed. He would definately be in my top 3.Not sure I would give him all 3 spots though ;) ;)He probably should think about moving down 105 this year.Got to watch him a lot this summer and seems like a great kid.Looks like a rough year at WH this year though.
bleacher_bum Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 Sims - WarrenCopeland - West HardinElliot - Hull DaisettaMarsh - HardinSims probably has the best looking shot imo. But I don't think anyone has as good of touch from 8-12 ft (mid range) as Hardins Daniel Marsh.Copeland and Elliot can shoot lights out as well.
CoachKfan Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 Is Paul Sims any kin to Coach Sims at HJ???
BLUEDOVE3 Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 Someone mentioned "small school" and it reminded me of a question I've been wondering about. If you happened to have a kid to grow up and becomes really good in basketball & possibly D-1 material, do you have him play at a larger school or keep him at small school (2A OR 3A)?
warfan Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 If he or she can "play" they would be better off in the largest school in the largest market with the best coach. We made a mistake with our daughter by not taking an opportunity for her to play for a private school. She played 2A and ended up going Juco.
whsalum Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 Is Paul Sims any kin to Coach Sims at HJ???Yep, it's her nephew, she was a real hooper.I hear she was glad when the bottom came out of the peach basket ;D ;D ;D Just kidding the lady was the best women's player I ever saw in a time when the womens game wasn't getting the press it gets now.A lot of todays players owe some of those ladies for bringing the sport to it's current level.Coach Sims,Coach Cruz-WH,Rosetta(her sister)not sure where she is now and Jimmie Daniels(another WH grad) they could all play.

the wise one Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 copeland hands down they are all good shooters and sims is a good one to but he is more of a set wide open three shooter copeland can hit it off the dribble with a hand in his face and now you also have to throw caleb jackson in the mix cause he can light it up when he gets hot
whsalum Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Sims can certainly bust the open 3 ,but the biggest improvement to his game the last 2 years has been off the dribble.Kid is 6'3" and can pull up and shoot it over lots of folks. Also went to the line over 100 times last year and hit 82% of his free throws so a lot of his shots were in traffic. He and Copeland are both in keeping with the topic "pure shooters" with excellent form.Jackson is a scorer but doesn't have a pure shooters touch. He is a solid ballplayer though.
Master T Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Shannon Robinson and Brady Byars are stepping up in that place
whsalum Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 Clay Davis. Can't argue with that.Probably still wouldn't want to get in a game of horse with him.I think he is out of elgibility though ;D ;D ;D
