Guest orangeman
I don't recall reading a thread like this recently. Normally we talk about the best players in the area, but I want to ask you what was the best individual single-game high school performance that you personally witnessed. Your answer doesn't have be limited by when it occured... 80's, 90's, 00's. Let me hear it! (I'll save mine for now)

Icky3284
1. Stanley Bonewitz (SA East Central) against El Paso Riverside at the '95 State Tourney Semifinals. I have never heard 12,000 collective gasps everytime someone touches a ball like the crowd did that night. He was simply amazing in everything he did (passing, shooting, dribbling.) Simply amazing.2. Chris Bosh (Dallas Lincoln) against Ozen in the 2002 State Finals. A friend and I knew after leaving that game we watched a player that had a chance at being a real superstar.3. TJ White (East Chambers) in 1996 against Crockett in a Playoff warmup game. He went off for 50 pts (I believe he had like 4 dunks). He was incredible that night. Honorable Mention: D. Arthur (South Oak Cliff) against Angleton 2 years ago in the State Semifinals. He reminded me of a young Bosh. He could shoot the mid range jumper, defend the perimeter, and make clutch plays with the game on the line. Will have a real future in the NBA. AggiesAreWe
Darrel McArthur of Silsbee went off on Port Arthur TJ in his senior year opening game of the season. Darrel score 54 points that night, out scoring TJ that night by himself, 54-52. Tigers won 70-52.
Guest KirbyKat
Icky3284, I was in the Drum that night when Bonewitz went off, it was just as you said, the crowd was into it like no other game I've witnessed. In fact every year since, I've been disappointed, because those 2 games East Central played, against EP and Carter were the most exciting hs games I have ever attended. Thanks for bringing Stanley Bonewitz up
Guest coachhooker
Rashard Lewis (Alief Elsik) in 1996 or 97 I forgot but he had 58pts against Hastings (district rivals) they had to stop the game and move from the Hastings gym to the Elsik Gym because Lewis dunked and broke the rim
Guest totalsportsprogram
AMEN! Icky. Bonewitz, hands down, the greatest high school performance I have ever seen. Especially considering the atmosphere and situation.
Master T
When Silsbee played against Kirbyville in district in 2007 at home. To make the 100 point mark, Terrance (TLU) Lewis threw an alleyoop to Marus (Frog) Brewer from the 3 point line was the most specialist performance I ever seen

Guest KirbyKat
Stanley Bonewitz is the head men's basketball coach at Concordia Lutherian University in Austin. His dad, who was his hs coach at East Central retired from coaching 2 years ago. Over 700 career wins.

Guest orangeman
Thank you one_love. The whole reason I started this thread was because of Letsinger's performance that you are referring to. I'll never forget the buzz in the building that night. Evadale's gym was packed, district championship on the line, two teams ranked in the top 5 in the state. Letsinger blows up early scoring the first 12 points of the game in 2 minutes. Big Sandy calls time out, and the game was OVER! I'm not saying that it was better than Bonewitz or any others. I'm saying it was the best performance I every witnessed. It sure was a joy and a pleasure to coach Letsinger. Unbelievable talent and an even better kid.
