smartguy Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 even though their season didnt end the way they wanted it to i just wanted to congratulate the guys for one heck of a season...you guys played and fought hard all the way and you cant ask for more then that... now i honestly think that they are the best team sitting at home right now...and yes they are sitting at home but lets think about it...they had three 1-run losses in district play (5-6 8 innings @ jasper, 4-5 @ silsbee, and 0-1 @ kirbyville)...all three of those games were amazing ball games but not once this year could the pirates get a bounce their way...but hey guys you fought hard and gave em a run for their money...no one expected that from you so CONGRATULATIONS!!!
kerusso Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Sounds like Shepherd had a lot of tough losses. Hard to stomach that many close losses.
rhino1877 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Congrats to Shepherd! We played them earlier in the year and the team and coach were class acts.
smartguy Posted May 8, 2006 Author Report Posted May 8, 2006 Sounds like Shepherd had a lot of tough losses. Hard to stomach that many close losses. 16 one run losses all year
hfaninthestands Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 16 one run losses all year      There is a common denominator with teams that have success with tight ballgames.
kerusso Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 16 one run losses all year Woah that is amazing. Did they have closer problems or what?
hook_em Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 no not closer problems...it was the bat problems...most the time it was they bats didnt come alive until late in the game..or they would be awake in the 1st and 7th innings and that is it...very very strange...but the games that they played the whole game was against jasper the 1st game and silsbee the secone game...the loss to kirbyville was jsut a horrible display of hitting...Hubbard did a great job on the hill just as he did against Jasper in the 1 run loss in the 8th (where he pitched all 8 innings) and the bats just couldnt come through..he also got intinially walked in the 6th against Kirbyville with a runner on..good coaching move by the K-ville coach...but what a heartbreaker of a season...at least all ended well with a win to coldspring for the seniors
