WOSgrad Posted June 2, 2020 Report Posted June 2, 2020 2020 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREVIEWS DIBOLL LUMBERJACKS 2019 Record: 11-1 Overall; 5-0 District District 11-3A-I Champions 2019 was a historic year for the Diboll Lumberjacks as Blake Morrison's Lumberjacks recorded the school's first undefeated regular season and extended the 'Jacks playoff streak to a school record five years in a row. In 2020, the Lumberjacks will count on a number of new faces in order to extend that streak to six. COACHES Head Coach: Blake Morrison Assistant Coaches: Jason Taylor (Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks), Luis Rios (Co-Defensive Coordinator/Safeties), Brad Purvis (Co-Defensive Coordinator/Inside Linebackers), Chance Johnson (Offensive Line/Special Teams), Orlando Estrada (Offensive Line), James Davis (Receivers), Preston Woodard (Running Backs), Josef Camacho (Defensive Ends), Bruce Barrera (Defensive Line), Steve Day (Outside Linebackers), Victor Bunner (Cornerbacks), Jacob Davis OFFENSE Three starters return to the Diboll multiple pro offense in 2020. Vying for the starting quarterback s position will be junior Rey Arellano and senior Jaylon Willis with Landon Dodge (2nd team all-district) lining up at running back. Senior Chris Teal returns to lead a receiver corp which will include sophomore wide out Kolby Stewart. Senior Kristian Mireles and junior Quincy Coleman return to the offensive line which will also feature senior Dustin Whitehead, juniors Brayden Fisher and Damian Rojas and sophomore Elijah Freeman. DEFENSE Five starters return to the Lumberjack 3-4 defense in 2020. Junior Jeremiah Gums (1st team all-district defensive end) will lead a defensive line which will also include senior defensive end Bryon Poindexter, senior lineman Jaylen Jackson and sophomore Adrian Villanueva. Dodge and senior Tyler Ibarra return to lead a linebacker corp which will feature seniors Julian Acevedo and Jose Garcia. Senior safeties Jaylon McMillan (1st team all-district) and Kobe Clark will anchor a secondary which will also feature senior cornerback Reed Quarles and junior corner Milak Armstead as well as defensive back Zach Phipps. SPECIAL TEAMS Special teams positions will be finalized during preseason practice.
