WOSgrad Posted June 5, 2020 Report Posted June 5, 2020 2020 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREVIEWS GARRISON BULLDOGS 2019 Record: 5-6 Overall, 3-3 District Tied for 3rd Place in 11-2A-I The 2019 Garrison Bulldogs' season was nothing to write home about as the Bulldogs went 5-6. However, the 3-3 district mark was enough to return the Bulldogs into the playoffs. In 2020, new head coach Brandon Alvarez steps in to improve Garrison's standing along with six returning offensive starters and six returning defenders. COACHING Head Coach: Brandon Alvarez Assistant Coaches: Brandon Beavers, Dempsey Compton, Leland Watley, Darren Cook, Clint Copeland, Todd St. John OFFENSE Six starters return to the Garrison multiple pro offense in 2020. Sophomore Cermodrick Bland and senior Tristan Adkinson will vie for the starting quarterback spot. Junior running backs Dmarcus Miller and Jaylon Griffith will be joined by freshman Omarion Raseberry in shouldering the rushing load. Adkinson will also see time at wide receiver along with senior Freddy Christopher (1st team all-district utility player) and sophomore Chadrick Henderson. Senior center Ty Stokes (2nd team all-district), guard Garner Hancock (2nd team all-district), and senior tackle Shawn Holmes (2nd team all-district) will lead the way on the offensive line. DEFENSE Six starters return to the Garrison 4-2-5 defense in 2020. Junior defensive ends D.J. McClure (1st team all-district) and Brayden Brucia (2nd team all-district) will be joined by Hancock at defensive tackle to form a formidable front line. Holmes will return to lead the linebacker squad which will also include junior Trey Sanders and freshman Brayden Davidson. Christopher and junior Kelvin Rather will anchor a secondary which will also feature Miller. SPECIAL TEAMS Senior Andy Marquez will do the kicking and punting for Garrison and Rather will be the primary kick returner.
