WOSgrad
2020 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREVIEWS DEWEYVILLE PIRATES 2019 Record: 6-5 Overall, 2-3 District 4th Place in District 12-2A-I Despite being the small dogs in District 12-2A-I, the Deweyville Pirates managed to fight their way to a playoff berth in 2019. The 2020 season brings hope for Brandon Prouse's Pirates as not only do the Pirates return an experienced squad (seven offensive starters and six starting defenders return) but they also have the luxury of now competing in District 12-2A-II where more schools are their own size. COACHING Head Coach: Brandon Prouse Assistant Coaches: Gregg Bass (Defensive Coordinator), Levi Moore (Offensive Coordinator), Brendon Waldrep (Offensive and Defensive Backs), Matthew Watkins (Offensive and Defensive Backs), Jacob Cook (Offensive and Defensive Line) OFFENSE Seven starters return to the Deweyville Slot-T offense in 2020. Taking over at quarterback will be sophomore Noah Watson. New faces will abound in the Pirate running game as senior Cade Watson, junior Ryan Bland and sophomores Nathan and Ryan Berry will all take turns toting the rock. When Deweyville does go to the air they will rely on senior tight end Jordan Brown and senior split end Justin Brister. A veteran line will return for the Pirates as junior Nathan Parker (1st team all-district), will head a line which will also feature senior Nick Gore, juniors Luis Gonzales and Bryce Raymer and sophomore Connor Salter. DEFENSE Six starters return to the Deweyville 4-2-5 defense in 2020. Defensive end Bland, will be joined by Brown at end and by Parker on the front line. Cade Watson and River Berry will be joined by sophomore Williams Kirkwood at linebacker. Nathan Berry will patrol the secondary along with Noah Watson and senior Jonathon Jenkins.
