WOSgrad Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 2020 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREVIEWS BARBERS HILL EAGLES 2019 Record: 11-2 Overall, 7-0 District Class 5A, Division II, Region III Semifinalist In 2019, the Barbers Hill Eagles began to show how they have progressed under head coach Tom Westerberg as they posted an 11-2 mark and cruised to a 12-5A-II District title. To repeat 2019's results, the Eagle will rely on seven returning offensive starters and six returning starting defenders. COACHING Head Coach: Tom Westerberg Assistant Coaches: Kyle Westerberg (Offensive Coordinator), Chris Cauley, Danny Cowgill, Kevin Ellis, Kevin Kilgo, Brian Moore, Luis Morales, Todd Palmer OFFENSE Seven starters return to the Barbers Hill spread offense in 2020. While the race to replace graduated quarterback Christian Kaopua will range into fall practice, the starting running back position appears settled as junior running back Garret Hagler (121 carries, 851 yd, 7 TD in 2019) returns. Senior wide receiver Cameron Cauley (1st team all-district, 49 catches, 960 yd, 16 TD) returns to head the Eagle receiver corp which will also feature returning senior wide outs Camden Grogan and Jalen Eugene. Senior center Brennan Holdren, junior guard Eli Burch (1st team all-district) and senior Riley Suggs (2nd team all-district) return to head the Eagle offensive line which will also include junior Mason Schweinle. DEFENSE Six starters return to the Barbers Hill 4-2-5 defense in 2020. Experience will be the name of the game on the defensive line as senior defensive ends Josh King-Bradley (1st team all-district) and Ramsey Humphrey (1st team all-district), and senior linemen Roman Falcon and Isiah Marcel (1st team all-district) all return. The Eagle linebacker squad will lack experience but look for junior Jordan Gigout to head things. Senior cornerbacks Ashton Hamby and Josh Bishop will lead the Barbers Hill secondary. SPECIAL TEAMS Senior Alvaro Garcia will do the kicking for Barbers Hill while the punting and return duties will be finalized during fall practice. BHFAN Posted July 20, 2020 Report Posted July 20, 2020 looks like a pretty good pre-season. 6A Houston Heights picked #2 in thier district if we get to play will be tough as will 5A Div I PAM picked 4th in thier district. Katy is no slouch moving up to 5A Div1 this year and still look to make the playoffs.. should have the Eagles ready for District.
