2020 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREVIEWS

LIVINGSTON LIONS

2019 Record: 2-7 Overall, 0-5 District

6th Place in District 11-4A-I

 

2019 was a year of struggle for the Livingston Lions as they attempted to adjust to their new coach, Finis Vanover.  But 2020 brings a year of experience as eight offensive starters and seven returning defenders come back in an effort to return the Lions to playoffs.

 

COACHING

Assistant Coaches: Juan Ceballos, Andrew Paul, Chris Parker, Ronal Mapps, Frank Brister, Dalton Murray, Shakobie McCoy, Frederic Camp, Robert Rogers, Blake Anderson, David Robertson

 

OFFENSE

Eight starters return to the Livingston offense in 2020.  Returning the guide the Lion offense will be junior quarterback Damian Ruiz (2019 11-4A-I Offensive Newcomer of the Year).  Expect junior Noah Hargraves to also see action.  Junior wide out Julian Gardner (2nd team all-district) will head a talented reciever group that also includes senior wide receiver Chris Washington, junior wide out Dustin Heflin and junior tight end Rashard Wallace.  The offensive line should be a strength as seniors Dylan Dickerson and Nigel Henderson, as well as juniors Breckett Long and Rashawn Wallace.

 

DEFENSE

Seven starters return to the Livingston defense in 2020.  Senior defensive tackle LaDainian Walker, along with Long, Dickerson, Wallace and Henderson will all be counted on up front.  Hargraves will lead the Lion linebacker corp.  Gardner (Unanimous 1st team all-district) will team with Heflin and Izzy Enard to anchor the Livingston secondary.

Special teams assignments will finalized at fall practice.
