KFDM COOP Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 BC splits in Dickinson; LC-M goes 4-2 at YMBLOrange Leader SportsThe Orange LeaderDICKINSON — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals split two matches at the Dickinson Tournament Thursday with a win over Angleton and a loss to Conroe High School.The Lady Cardinals (8-9, 1-0) first took a two-game loss to Conroe, 26-24 and 25-20.Senior Audrey Myers led the way with six kills and Lauren Angelle added six. Jenna Angelle had seven digs while Mallory Guidry added six digs in the loss. Emily Kosh paced the Lady Cardinals with a team-high 12 assists.Bridge City then went on to down Angleton 26-24 and 25-22.Myers again led the team with 13 kills while putting in five digs.Kosh had a great match with 18 assists while Lauren Angelle added seven kills and Kayla Fullerton had four.Jenna Angelle had eight digs in the win while Guidry added six.The Lady Cardinals will travel tonight to face the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears before heading back to Dickinson on Saturday.Lady BearsBEAUMONT — The Lady Bears went 4-2 at the YMBL Tournament Thursday with losses to District 22-4A opponents Beaumont Ozen and Beaumont Central.The Lady Bears defeated Lumberton 15-7 and 15-9, defeated Beaumont West Brook 15-13 and 15-9, downed Forest Brook 15-5 and 15-8 and defeated Port Arthur Memorial 15-8 and 15-13.Central took LC-M down 15-12 and 15-6 while Ozen won 15-11 and 15-13.The wins and losses do not count towards LC-M’s record because of pool play and the 15-point victory format.Sophomore Christine Sicktich finished the day off with 24 kills, 23 assists, 15 digs and six aces while Morgan Blohm added 20 kills, one block, 14 digs and three aces.Jordyn Davis had eight kills, eight digs and an assist Thursday while Brittany Wiegand added 14 digs and Shayna Sheppard finished with 11.Bridge City will visit LC-M Friday before the Lady Bears return to the YMBL Tournament Saturday.

revfaulk Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 just a question. i saw both liberty and west hardin last year....i wouldn't have thought wh would have beaten liberty. is liberty down a little bit or is west hardin just that much better?
highsky Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 everybody is down a little bit this year. I have not really seen any great volleyball teams yet this year. There is a lot of parity right now in the area. I watched the Evadale tourney and there were a lot of teams that could have beat each other on any given day. No one team stood out at all there.
