CoachKfan Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 OK......I'm getting the fever. Which teams ( any classification) are going to be the top teams in the area? Here are my picks:SilsbeeCentralHardin JeffersonLumbertonOrangefield
Cat22 Posted September 8, 2007 Report Posted September 8, 2007 Those are good picks. Orangefield is a question mark. We only return two starters and only have a few girls with any varsity experience, not to mention a new coach. They may struggle early, but should be ok once district starts.
ilovesports1223 Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 Kountze, They have a heck of a coach and all returning players. with the same new coach from last year, they should dominate. Especially their district!!

footballfan5261 Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Kountze brings back the entire team from last year and will only lose one senior this year. they won 2nd in their district last year.. great coach and super team. should make a lot of noise.
Guest tayzee Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 central, silsbee, and h-j are great but kelly can beat lumberton and orangefield
Cat22 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 central, silsbee, and h-j are great but kelly can beat lumberton and orangefieldlol, thats funny, made me chuckle!! Did Kelly have some move ins or something?
whsalum Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Silsbee,HJ for sure, not to sure about Lumberton this year they lost a ton of talent. The biggest surprise this year though will be the Lady Eagles from Woodville, you will see this group in the regional tourney this year and they are still young.
luvdgame07 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 after a down year, jasper should surprise some people this year. Their young, but they had great summer league play, and they should be ready to make a strong showing this season!!!
Guest bleed orange Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 central, silsbee, and h-j are great but kelly can beat lumberton and orangefieldKelly played Orangefield in summer league and lets just say it was ugly and not for Orangefield. Orangefield will have a different look this year but they will be OK. I would say Silsbee and Central are the top 2 in this area. I think Lumberton will make the playoffs but not as District Champions.
CoachKfan Posted September 12, 2007 Author Report Posted September 12, 2007 KELLY?? hmmmm.....Jasper may be a sleeper in that district.....they improved so much last year and that coach does a good job with them. they had a good 8th grade group with alot of athletes. they may sneak up on some people.I'm still picking Silsbee and HJ to battle for the top spot in that district.Kountze will be much improved. Don't know how they would match up against the larger schools though.I agree with the comment about Woodville....I saw them play at the Lamar team camp..VERY ATHLETIC.....dont' know much else about them but they were impressive at that camp.
Guest KirbyKat Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 How good will Buna be this year? I remember when the Lady Cougars were the real deal.
Guest bleed orange Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 CoachKfan, I have the fever also. I can't wait till basketball season. It should be another exciting year. The talent level is a little down this year but not much. If I can get past Volleyball season I will be OK. Not enough action in volleyball for me. Any sport that you laugh or congratulate a teamate for making a mistake is not for me. Basketball can not get here soon enough for me. Silsbee has the inside track for the district title then after that it is a cat fight. Silsbee does have the most explosive player in the league.
Bobkat Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Did someone say Kelly could beat Orangefield and Lumberton...ha ha...that's like saying Bleed Orange is skinny!!!
Guest bleed orange Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Touch'e Bobkat, thats a good one. You were waiting for the right time and you found it. I am impressed. You got me on that one and there is nothing I can say except "Kelly beating us" that's funny. In basketball that is. But atleast the person who wrote that is upbeat and a true bulldog fan. But not too realistic. ;D
24 over par Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 orangefield you guys are going to like your new coach the program will continue to be among the best in the area
Guest bleed orange Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 Thanks "24 over Par". I think we will be OK also. We have a good freshmen group and our 7th and 8th grade teams are good. This year and next year we will lack in the depth department and we are young. Most of our girls can't drive yet. We have 2 girls with experience, 1 who saw limited time and the rest have never played varsity before. We will have some growing pains.
T_totha_K Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 What no MEMORIAL we have always been a team to watch....
Guest bleed orange Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 What no MEMORIAL we have always been a team to watch....NOT!!!!!!!! Just kidding. All of those schools mentioned before have long standing traditions. Memorial has only been around for a short time. Their time will come someday or maybe not. You never know.
luvdgame07 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 I believe that this season will be better then last years, especially in 21-3A. I think that the race for the playoffs will include 5 teams for 3 P.O. spots. Silsbee, H.J., Orangefield, Jasper, and Kirbyville. This season will be a tight one!!!!
GLBEmbassador Posted September 16, 2007 Report Posted September 16, 2007 It will be tight but I see Silsbee going undefeated in district,HJ coming in second only losing two games, & OF rounding out. Jasper should be better, but what does Kirbyville have now?
luvdgame07 Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 I don't know what kirbyville has this year, I wouldn't be surpised if Jasper finishes 3rd this season. Coach Baker is in his 2nd year at Jasper and has a solid group of players coming back this season. Last season was tough, but i like his style of coaching, he'll have them ready sooner then many would believe. :-* :-* :-*
GLBEmbassador Posted September 18, 2007 Report Posted September 18, 2007 I thought Kvilles coach was a woman & that Kellum was pretty much the only thing they had last year
luvdgame07 Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Kirbyville and Jasper have head coaches with the last name Baker. Coach Joe Baker is Jasper's Head coach, and Lola Baker is Kirbyville's HC. ;D
