central heights tournament

Not there, but I did hear Tatum beat Hardin.  Tatum is usually pretty good and a program that has been on the rise for a couple of years.  However, they did lose to Nederland last year which is historically no competition for Hardin.  Further evidence this team (Hardin) is a far cry from what it has been for the last 24 years.

Score was Tatum 25-14, 25-11

Was also told Hardin lost to Lorena today, but that was expected.

When was the last time Hardin started the season 0-3 ?  You guessed it........never in volleyball

Just FYI…Hardin has never played Nederland.

FYI, you and I both know I can name every opponent Hardin has ever played the last 24 seasons.  The reference to Nederland not being any competition for Hardin, is placing them in the same category as any other team from the golden triangle, which has not been competition for Hardin the last 24 years.  Only two teams categorically are "better" programs than Hardin in all of setx.  (BH and Huffman) and they are both significantly larger, which explains the result.

I would certainly argue that Tarkington is better than Huffman and Hardin historically. When Johnson was at Tarkington no one in SE Texas had a winning record against them that I can remember.  Huffman had become their equal in the last few years of that time frame.  Hardin was a tough match but rarely won more than a game here and there which is no slight seeing they are a class lower.  I do not remember Snell ever beating Johnson.  
Perhaps that has been long enough ago now that Tarkington has lost all volleyball luster, which is a shame.

I would agree, historically Tarkington has been the better program. However, there was not only a lull in overall talent but also a coaching presence for multiple years in Tarkington. They literally had a person coach an entire season that had never coached a vollebyall game in her life one year thanks to Coach J leaving in August! Then hired a total fail as a coach for two additional years. Last year was Kennedy's first year and they at least returned to the playoffs. This year has been very up and down, but I can say that this group has a chance to win district or at least finish second and will move a round or two deep into the playoffs. They already beat Hardin this year as well. Also most of the varsity players will be returning and are already in club programs for the spring. Future is bright for the Horns!

      Yeah, BH put up 62, but some of that was OT. In any case its hard to believe they could only score 10 on GB. Equally hard to believe GB could only score 3 on AMC!

      Resumes' matter. No, they don't win games but they matter. LP has a much better resume' this year, while BH had to scratch just to get into the playoffs, and has an almost all Soph fill in skill team. LP is easily the favorite.
