Mr. Buddy Garrity
Warren JV must be good or something else.... wasn't it 28-0 at one point?

AFanInTheStands
Why is Colmesneil playing a JV team, even if it is a 3A JV team? It's a no win situation for Colmesneil. They beat the JV team (which I see they did) and people will say, "they should beat them because it's their Varsity playing a JV team." If they had lost, it would've been, "you guys just lost to a JV team." I'm going to guess it was the only opponent they could find. But, in my opinion it just is never a good idea to have your Varsity team (no matter what classification) play a JV team (also no matter what classification). I agree, but that coach has done it before. He lost to Lumberton's JV a couple of years ago. Guess he didn't learn his lesson.

The only 2A varsity team in the area that I know that is open this week is Sabine Pass, who canceled on Colmesneil last week before Laura became a threat. It was kind of like Vidor scrimmaging Hemphill this week. As with Mathews in that case, I am sure that this wasn't Day's first choice. However, the prospect of not playing at all was not a real good choice, either.
AFanInTheStands
I agree that it is important to get that game time experience. And it is nice to play someone other than yourselves as you do in practice. Now Sabine Pass is going to keep getting a bad rep in my opinion. I noticed you bolded the word before, so I wonder what their reason was for canceling? Was it still Hurricane Laura? But, I don't know why anyone would schedule their football team after what they did a couple of seasons ago, when they canceled their season mid-season and then backed out of their district for the following year and left all those teams scrambling to try and find a replacement game. No, SP canceled what was supposed to be Colmesneil's Week 2 game back on August 22nd which Laura had not even entered the Gulf yet and was still slated to hit Florida. jv_coach
