I’m seriously dumbfounded on this one.  So the reason we’re giving is for a lack of an acclimation period?  Ummm.  Aren’t ALL schools facing this same dilemma?  So we’re shorting ourselves a game to an already abbreviated season. Everyone else in our district will play 9 games and we will play 8 because of this.  Makes no sense at all.

It makes no sense at all. They have been doing strength and conditioning since the August 24th, practicing with helmets on since Monday, and planned on scrimmaging Channelview next weekend. Which are all against the UIL timeline if they want to change that game to a scrimmage.

Agreed. Welcome to the new world.

Ron Jackson will always look out for Central, I mean BMT United 🤣

I rooted for Central and root for United, but it’s complete BS the way that it stands. WB AND BU is getting screwed...

Is the roux ready yet?   Keep stirring.  😂

He’s just mad because BU ran his squad off the field last year in front of their home fans and had them including him hitting the gates in the middle of the 3rd quarter.  So it’s natural for him to feel somewhat bitter toward Central, Ozen, or United...  anyway, moving right along...

Do i need to pull up season series with BISD teams other than WB in which we are tied with WB but whip others as tradition? You sounding like a Vidor fan celebrating beating Crosby and us now, that's the current climate of football on the Southside of Beaumont? Whew lawd. 😁

"Lack of acclimation period" is the lamest reason to-date I've heard for postponing/reformatting a game, much less a rivalry game. I guarantee the players want this to game to happen.

I agree with everything you’ve just said...

Why is BU able to unilaterally cancel (effectively) a football game? Does it count as a forfeit?

Because of athletic director Jackson and his whack hires!

Well, the "lack of acclimation" might be a lame excuse. But in 2020, that is a UIL mandated situation.  From the UIL football page:

5A-6A DATES

5A-6A SCHOOLS THAT HAVE OFFERED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SINCE August 24
Date Event or Deadline
September 7 First day of conditioning (No contact activities permitted. No contact equipment except helmets may be worn.)
September 17-19 1st Scrimmage
September 24-26 Week One

*Schools will have 11 weeks to play 10 games

**The above is only for schools who were not shut-down through September 7

5A-6A SCHOOLS WHO HAVE NOT OFFERERED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SINCE AUGUST 24

Date Event or Deadline
September 7 Strength and Conditioning and Sport Specific activities only, no pads or helmets allowed
September 14 Begin Acclimatization Period
September 24-26 1st Scrimmage
October 1-3 Week One

*Schools will have one less scrimmage in this scenario

I don't know if either West Brook or United meet the 2nd criteria, but evidently Dr. Jackson and Dr. Allen believe they do.  And if it is a dark line, they are going to err on the side of caution and choose the later, whether all of us like it or not.
