KJB324 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Do schools normally operate during a tropical storm/small hurricane?
play-ball!! Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 shoot png started at 745 normal time and it was the worse i seen the rain in a lonnnggg time they had cars in the ditch in front of the school and about a foot of water in the parking lots
KJB324 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Guess we better strap lifevests to the kids before sending them to school.
dave08 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 anything about nederland being closed tommorrow
skipper Posted September 12, 2007 Author Report Posted September 12, 2007 ALL SCHOOLS HAVE WHAT THAY CALL WEATHER DAYS (PLEASE KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE Â USE ONE) dang use your heads
dave08 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 did you drive today because it is not even here yet and there was at least a ft or more of water flooding my street. football is on friday it will be gone by then but they need to call off school or there is gonna be a lot of kids in wrecks. it's not safe to be out.
venom33 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Right, it is just a tropical storm... but here in Orange and in BC there A LOT of areas that flood BAD and QUICK. Â With that much rain coming, it will definately cause travel problems. Â Wouldn't hurt to cancel to just be safe and protect the kids.
KJB324 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Not to mention it hasnt exactly been a dry summer. And nobody is freaking out.
dave08 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 were i am in nederland we are 10 ft undersea level and flood if people spit to much not to mention this and it could be a cat 1 by the time it hits land it is already 50 mph.
outanup Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Hey Dave, are you sure its not 10ft above sea level? What area of Ned do you live in?
wos08 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 Kids that go to WOS will be speedin down the street because of dumb hallsweeps
dave08 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 right off of 365 and it is 10 under when the hurricane hit 2 years ago we flooded bad.
Mike George Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 At least for Dayton, it has nothing to do with wind blowing down the school or a tornado (which this one has been forcasted to have multiple of those dancing around) ripping off the roof. It's because of transportation issues.Picture the buses out and about in flooded areas, getting stuck or washed off the road. It's not about "getting out of class" or a teachers' day off. It's about throwing caution to the wind and staying in rather than risking even one serious accident. It's an intelligent move. The alternative, therefore would be . . . oh well, you get the picture.
Guest tigersvoice Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 just asking are is it to earlyWhat is it with the language on forum posts? In Skipper's subject he uses "two" when the proper use is "to." He knows that - so he uses one extra space and keystroke for what? Now, in the body statement Skipper breaks even on efficiency. Using "are" instead of the correct "or" costs a stroke but then Skipper makes that up by using the incorrect "to", which should be "too." I don't know where Skipper went to school, or if he went to school, but to me, it seems just as easy to do the grammar correctly as it is to purposely use the wrong words.
Guest FPHS 78 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 supposedly...BISD buses will run at 4 am.....if they can make it to the schools, classes will be held if they cant, every household w/ kid there will get an early am phone callgot a phone call, LU is not having classes
venom33 Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 does anyone know anything about bc or orangefield?
