eagle_sports
i have heard rumors of the jackets droppin down to six man ball... is there any truth to this?
txprepfan
I've heard rumors of this also and would think their enrollmentwould certainly qualify, however have also heard thatthe administrators at Chester are dead against playing 6-Man.Perhaps someone can confirm. eagle_sports
i dont understand why the administartion would be against... they are havin trouble putting enough guys in uniform to make a team
rmac
I think it is more the community being against it, plus do you realize how far they would have to travel for games, unless some more schools in this area played 6 man.
txprepfan
I agree the travel would be tough but would think they wouldbe able to compete much better in 6-Man. Seems like I remember some talk maybe a year or so ago aboutcreating an east texas six man district and that Gary, Goodrich, and a couple of other schools in that area fielding 6-Man teams.Has anyone else heard anything about this? eastex
They have about 30 kids out. They have also been successful in the past at 11 man football.
24 over par
30 kids is plenty for varsity but it doesnt leave much for jv so the younger kids probably not playing much
txprepfan
Are they even fielding a JV team?It is encouraging to see they have 30 kidson the roster that should be enough toplay 11-man, however they have had only2 winning seasons since 1996 (2003, 2004, 6-4 each year)and are 31-72 overall from 1996-2006.I remember watching the game at Colmesneil in2004 and Chester won convincingly 40-14 so they certainly have competed well at times in 11-man.
