Stangfan#1 Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 I think they is this defense reminds me of 2012 and 2015 defense Quote
GUNHO Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 They for real every year...Don't mean they can't be beat though.Going to face some tough competition in the playoffs. Quote

Rez Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 West Orange has to play Carthage eventually. THAT will be a game, one I’m sure people have wanted to see for years. But I don’t see West Orange’s [name redacted] Defense holding Carthage out of the end zone enough to win. TrojanMoJo 1 Quote
Dawgs12345 Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Carthage vs WO-S is for the state title this year. Winner of that game wins it all. I know I should be humble and say “any given Friday”, but let’s just be real. Carthage has steam rolled basically the top 5 in DII with the exception of WO-S. If any team is going to keep Carthage from dropping down and dominating DII it’s gonna be up to the Mustangs to do it. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Everybody has a ton of respect for WO-S and fans have followed them closely over the years, especially on that run from 2014-2017. Always liked watching them play. We have some history from 2013. That was a hell of a game, and TBH that was for the state title. That was the best team Carthage saw in the playoffs that year. And then the next 4 years WO-S went and played in the state championship game. But if and when that game happens, it’s going to be a defensive battle. I know WO-S is known for their D, but Carthage has had arguably the best D in the state 3 out of the last 4 years. It’s just that they don’t get as much credit because of Surratt’s offense. I think it will be a fairly low scoring game. studd88, Morris_era, Boneyard Boys and 1 other 4 Quote
BADSANTA Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Unless they face Silsbee or Carthage. Quote
CardinalBacker Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Good team, no doubt. 16 team was better, IMO. Carthage will be the end of the line for WOS. Quote
ladybug33 Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 WOS too busy thinking about Liberty and they AIN'T got time for nothing else. Are the Mustang's the real deal time will tell? The defense is much quicker than the 15-16 team imo. Big boys on defense from opposing teams will tire quickly running after our backs we do have enough to go around.. dj 1 Quote
GUNHO Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 We have to get by Jasper first and they ain't no slouch. If we do and meet Carthage in the quarter finals of course we will be the underdogs.Last time we played them they were huge favorites and WOS gave them all they wanted before they finally won the game.Just saying.lol Quote
Majestyk Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 WOS played well in defeat. If I remember Carthage went for something like 4th and 12 inside their own 20 and made it. Big play in the game. Great team and went on to win championship. This was in the WOS run from 2012-17 went it took the state champion to end the Mustangs season. MrUmp1 1 Quote
Bansheefan Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 U are correct on going for it on 4th deep in there own territory think it was a little outside the 20 though. Alot of folk criticize Surratt for going for it on 4th down deep in there own territory during the regular season but those plays pay off in the playoffs and the kids are so used to doing it Boneyard Boys 1 Quote

Majestyk Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 Yes JD I believe was 2014-16 and graduated before the loss to Pleasant Grove in '17. I think. CardinalBacker 1 Quote

JD wasn't the QB then. He was the jv QB when they played Carthage. Dillon Sterling Cole and chase Rutledge was the QB. JD took over the next year after dillion left for Westfield. Tiger33 1 Quote

TrojanMoJo Posted October 21, 2020 Report Posted October 21, 2020 West Orange can definitely compete with Carthage. I would love to see WOS knock them off Quote
