jdawg03 Posted May 8, 2006 Author Report Posted May 8, 2006 The PNG guys went off this week...what were their stats
Bobcatfan4life Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 There are stats in the PNG vs Crosby Game 2 Final thread below.
MIF04 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 I nominate Powell from PNG -- threw a perfect game in 1st game of playoffs.
Ty Cobb Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 I nominate Powell from PNG -- threw a perfect game in 1st game of playoffs. :iag A perfect game in the playoffs gets my vote any day!!! Powell it is!!!
NeDeRlAnD b-DoG fAn Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Matison Smith threw a 2 hit shutout with 10 Ks, but I think I would give it to Powell with his complete game vs crosby
LRaiser08 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Aaron Hazlewood of K-Ville a freshman who was 4-4 in the game 3 vs. polluck central 2 doubles 1 single and the game winning hit in the bottom of the 7th
bearbacker09 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 How about Landon Womack of LCM. Did what no other player in southeast Texas has done and that is dominate BC. 12Ks no BB in 5 1/3. Reached base 3 times. Not sure what his stats were in the game early in the week versus Crosby.
MIF04 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Womack's perforance was outstanding (but he didn't play Crosby this week). On the other hand, it was in a warm up game while Powell's was in a playoff game...and was a no-no.
FanOfTheGame Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 You don't take a 19 game winning streak into the #1 ranked 3A teams back yard and call it a warm up game, this game was hyped up as the game of the year, #4 in 4A against #1 in 3A, you could tell by the amount of scouts that where there, 12 guns aimed at every pitch, now that's pressure, both teams wanted to win this game as much as any playoff game. Womack keep them off balanced all night. Powell also had a great game this week.
Guest SWINGHARDINCASEYOUHITIT Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Branden Powell should be player of the week. LCM vs BC was a warm up game. Those scouts are at every BC game that Angelle pitches. It was LCM that hyped it so much.

strosbros Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 LCM vs BC was a warm up game. Those scouts are at every BC game that Angelle pitches. It was LCM that hyped it so much. If BC had pulled off the "W", we would still be hearing about it. I would say it was hyped equally by both teams. BC was the team with "posters" and the works. Scouts were there to watch more than Angelle. I agree Powell had a great game against Crosby, but props to Womack from LCM, if there were ever a week for co-Player of the Week honors, I would have to say this is it. LCM handled Crosby earlier last week and Crosby didn't even get to see the bears top 3 pitchers. This week should be a great test for Powell and the Indians against the hard hitting Cubs from Brenham. Best of luck to all our local teams still in the play-offs.
FanOfTheGame Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Co-Players of the Week Womack-LCM Powell-PNG Both had Great Games this week! Has this ever happened before?
Lonewolf Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Powell was 5-9 at the plate with 1 walk. He also had 6 RBI's
MIF04 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 That should 'seal the deal' for Powell. No hitter and good offense? Heckuva week.
besbolbenbedygud Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 The LC-M vs BC game counted in Orange only...........Yes it was a great match up......Yes it had all the hype and feel of a "real" game............win streaks, D1 pitchers..........it had it all including a great pitching performance by Womack BUT.........Powell's game counted Statewide.............NO HITTER in a playoff game should be no question who the player of the week should be............my vote to Powell I hope they both have performances like they did last.....this week............good luck to all local teams still hunting!!!!
KFDM COOP Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Branden Powell of PN-G is your Player Of The Week...Congrats!
Ty Cobb Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Powell was 5-9 at the plate with 1 walk. He also had 6 RBI's I had no idea that he had such a good week at the plate. 5-9 and a no hitter. Congrats to Powell!!! :thumbsup
FanOfTheGame Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Congrats- Powell Great week, Good luck in the playoffs.
MIF04 Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 BTW -- he pitched a whale of a game last night vs. Brenham AND hit a ball off the top of the wall in CF to lead off the game. A very deserving pick.
