WO-S posters, please don’t take this the wrong way...But if 6 or 7 players had COVID how can you be sure that the rest of the team didn’t have it? Did they have testing for those that were in contact with those players? And then my question would be if all the players that had contact did not have negative tests, then how do you know it wasn’t spread to CS players? That could affect their team going forward in the playoffs.

I’m not at all trying to get anything started, I am just asking the questions. Not sure I understand the protocol for TXHSFB with positive COVID cases. I would think if any of the kids tested positive then their would have to be some quarantine for the others those players were in contact with. Maybe I don’t understand the whole situation why the players were held out if the game.

Its very difficult to explain, because ever team , ever ISD , ever District  Basically has its own version or protocol with dealing with COVID 19....

Any team at the 4A level and down loses their entire starting offensive line and two defensive line starters will suffer terribly against a good team. That's no excuse, just fact.

If you claim your team can overcome that type of loss, you live in a fantasy land.

And BOOM!!! There goes the dynamite lol

This is BS.WOS has never had the numbers to be able to have backups. And your coach comment is BS also.

No its not. U still have to work with someone as a backup.  Ur starting LB has never played on the oline and the kids tried. Just like the defense. If someone gets hurt or not there. They have a backup. Okay w.o had 6 kids out. But they weren't prepared on special teams.do u ever watch teams outside our area.teams in East Texas are better than us for a reason. Its like this if we were at full strength idk if we could beat a team like carthage. I think we can compete with them but idk if we're on that coaching level yet.

No. AAW is delusional. Carthage could beat SILSBEE, WOS or JASPER with the same losses that WOS had. Nothing against those 3 teams, that’s just the fact Jack.

They are deep.and they work with there depth. I've seen Carthage 3x and they work with them kids.ik teams around here doesn't have the numbers but I seen Silsbee put them young kids in there. And thats why I'm scratch my head do w.o have any backup lineman.

“Next man up” not “next men up!” At least they tried and didn’t forfeit like most teams would’ve. Give them credit too, I believe they’ve earned it. Smh.

I did not say anything about taking credit away from WOS on the season they have had up to this point. I just simply said missing starters shouldn’t be the excuse. I knew it would offend the WOS faithful, but that’s ok. Just honesty.

You sir are an idiot - If Cartage lost 7 startes they wouldn't  get past Silsbee - Even Cartage can't recruit enough depth to take a hit like that.

I can absolutely, with a straight face and in all seriousness say that this year’s team could easily could be just fine missing 7 starters. This is not the best team Carthage has had from a pure talent standpoint, but it is by far the most depth I’ve ever seen on a Carthage team.

AAW you made yourself irrelevant when you were so sure Jackson from PG didn’t play against Silsbee or Carthage. You just looked silly. Bye👋

It’s called respect. Their program has earned it. Everybody loves to see the best fall. It’s just annoying how quiet all the haters are until they fall and then here they come posting their bs comments. Newton fell tonight and the comments on the fox app are just one after the other. It’s ridiculous and childish.

Again I never took anything away from WOS. It’s just a tell as old as time when a team loses, especially a favorite, it’s all because of this or that.

my money was on CS as soon as we knew the matchup was happening. Without knowing players were going to be out for various reasons

7 starters is one thing if it's sprinkled around the team. Missing the entire offensive line is another.

Honestly I don't care since I don't have a house in this race but to @AggiesAreWe point he is right about that and Carthage or no Carthage don't expect to beat a team missing a lot of starters like that especially if they are key staters they usually contribute to the team more than one others

I make zero excuses for any team. But missing 6 or 7 starters is kinda relevant. I don’t really see anybody using it as an excuse though. Actually I’m the one that brought it up on here bc I read it somewhere else.

Isn't dancing on the grave of a team that your team had nothing to do with burying so fun!?

Even leaving out Carthage, I just wonder how those that are accusing WO-S faithful of using the "excuse card" would have reacted had the shoe been on the other foot tonight and it would have been China Spring with the 6 starters, including the offensive line......the......entire.......offensive line and the Mustangs came out victorious.  Actually, I don't have to wonder that much as those same folks would have flooded the board with comments such as "well, you beat a team that had 6 starters out which is the only way you could have beat them."

Those folk's hypocrisy aside, whether you think the starters being out did or did not matter in the outcome of this game really doesn't matter.  The scoreboard is the final arbiter of who is the better team on a particular night, it always has been.  And it is draconian arbiter with no compassion as to who a team does or does have playing.  It only measures the performance of those on the field at the time of the game.  And the West Orange-Stark Mustang team on the field was the best that WO-S had to offer tonight.

That might not have been the case back in September.

Heck, it might not have been the case last week.

But it was tonight.  China Spring beat the best that WO-S had to offer and for that they get my congratulations and my best wishes for the rest of the season. I think that the impact China Spring had on Region III was overshadowed by Carthage's moving into the Region.  They may not have to stay in that shadow much longer.

I am always proud West Orange-Stark alum but there are times you really beam.  Of course, the biggest of those times came in the years 1986, 1987, 2015 and 2016.  I must say, that have been very few, if any, times that my Mustang pride has been real high in a loss.

That changed tonight.

No, for one of the few times in the last decade, the Mustangs won't have football practice for Thanksgiving.  But tonight, they showed that they had learned some life lessons well and may have very have taught some tonight.  At the very least, they affirmed some.  1.  Always show up 2. Never quit.  Yes, even though my alma mater won't even sniff the regional finals this year, I can affirm that I am a proud graduate of West Orange-Stark High School.  I am proud of Coach Thompson and the coaching staff and I am proud of the kids that suited up tonight.  The easy way out would have been a call to Coach Bell and say "we are just missing too many players" and forfeit the game. The fact is, we are just not raised that way in the communities of Orange, West Orange and Pinehurst.

Now, let's be sure, there are some that will crucifying Coach Thompson for even the entertaining the thought of playing tonight.  I am sure that resident Beaumont Enterprise coronabros Jorge Ramos and Matt Faye, who, although they will deny it citing themselves as "sports reporters", rooted tirelessly against playing football at any level, have already sent out umpteen tweets calling his decision wreckless and will soon publish a 1000 word column on how WO-S' fate in the playoffs is indisputable proof that not one down of high school football should have been played.

I think tonight showed just the opposite.

That's kinda harsh. How would you have handled it, exactly.

Don't take it wrong way. I thought we called a great game.i just don't  kno why they don't have any backups this time of year.every team bring there jv up.and so on. And few oline doing the regular season. I can't figure out how ur starting LBS had to start on the line and they haven't played there at all.and they were so confused.w.o special teams put them in that whole not the coaches. Lol,never thought I would ever talk abt no backups on the line.

Even with the missing players, special teams is what put WOS in a big hole. Blocked punt taken in for a score, 7-0.Fumbled punt at own 8 gave China Spring a short field, 14-0. Cougars then grind a drive out for 21-0. After a trick play makes it 21-7. China Spring’s 2,000 yard rusher breaks it for a huge TD run, 28-7. Then Cougars recover pooch kick that set up a 52-yard TD pass, 35-7.

Mustangs fumbled another punt but was able to recover it.

China Spring was a top 10 ten team for part of this season. They took advantage of every mistake. A full strength WOS would’ve still been in trouble with those special teams mistakes.

Well said good sir.

I actually give major props to the coach for not shutting the team down and letting them play. It’s the stuff legends are made of.
