Rick Perry, replacing another Beaumont attorney, Kent Adams, whose term had expired. Lucian Adams biography His father, Joseph, was a professor of voice and opera for 43 years starting in 1953. His mother, Ruth, was one of the first women on the faculty when she began teaching piano at Lamar in 1947."Lamar's a big part of our lives. It's a big part of our community. It's a great honor for me to serve," Truncale said.Truncale noted the regents also oversee "three other very fine Lamar entities" and said he is "becoming a very quick study" on Texas State University, Sam Houston State University and Sul Ross State University, which has two campuses."So many of our students are first-generation college students and to me that's exciting," Truncale said.The schools not only enlighten students, but "They're great sources of enlightening communities," he said.After completing a bachelor's degree in economics at Lamar, Truncale received a master of business administration from the University of North Texas and a law degree from Southern Methodist University.Advertisement He is a senior partner at Orgain Bell and Tucker and a past president of the Jefferson County Bar Association, the Symphony of Southeast Texas and the Beaumont Heritage Society.He also serves on the State Republican Executive Committee and is a lay Eucharist minister at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.Other new Perry appointees to the Texas State University System board of regents were Charlie Amato of San Antonio, co-owner of Southwest Business Corp.; and Ron Blatchley of Bryan, co-owner of BMB Homes. http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=18854327&BRD=2287&PAG=461&dept_id=512588&rfi=6
