Both schools were very small 5A schools when they merged.  In fact, Ozen, save an opt up, would have been a 4A school has they not merged and Central wouldn't have been far behind.

Well, here is the math.  With the merger, United started with with 60 less students than West Brook (which is one of the smaller school in 6A).

I’m no mathematician. But I think if you took the smallest 5A (1230 students per this graphic from the UIL) and combined it with another small 5A. You would have at least 2460 kids.. which appears to be above the 2220 threshold for 6A schools.

Perhaps the simplest and most logical explanation is that not all of those students are currently enrolled at United.

Ozen had 4A numbers, they opted into playing 5A

That is the clearest, cleanest stream of a hs basketball game I've see or heard.  Is this a bootleg stream?  Or, did some new streaming rules get passed?   Not that I am complaining.  Whoever recorded this used a very good camera.
