BUT for those wondering, the referee was able to walk off on his own power to the tune of a round of applause from the stands. #txhsfb This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up
Tiger33
The kid did this last year during a soccer game last year. I can’t believe they let him back on the field. purpleeagle
I think UIL can impose sanctions on the school. Taking his demeanor the coaches should be held responsible for his actions. SmashMouth

2wedge
If they really want to fix this, the UIL would punish the school for this kids actions. Forfeit a game, forfeit the season, monetary fine, whatever it takes to ensure coaches address this behavior way before there is an opportunity for this to happen. You shouldn't have to tell a kid not to attack a referee, (or anyone for that matter) but in 2020 things like common decency are not at the forefront of how people parent. Kids who didn't have consequences growing up are parenting kids who do not get consequences due to their parents and it's a damn shame. The only way to prevent it is to make sure the schools know they will suffer greatly if it happens, and force them to make it a part of their programs to ensure this never happens at their school. This is the second recent incident of this nature that I can remember, and it should be made to be the last. NetCat and navydawg31

Expel him. Arrest him. Fine his parents if you want. It wasn’t his teammates’ fault. It wasn’t his coaches fault. It was HIS fault. It was HIS PARENTS’ fault. Or even possibly he may have been abused, molested, tortured, who knows. I’m just saying his coach probably didn’t give him the green light for those actions. He did it of his own accord. Punish him...
PlayActionPass
In some places the Coach would be fired on the spot, and rightfully so. If you aren't coaching it, then you are letting it happen. Ultimately, the behavior of any player, especially on the field of play, is the responsibility of the coach and a direct reflection of the coach. 8 minutes ago, SmashMouth said: Punish the school? CardinalBacker
It's those heavy doses of Vitamin S. I wonder if this will be mentioned in a few years when somebody ends up having to shoot this kid?
png9mon
If that kid had any future in college sports, one forward of this video, will end any chances of his playing past high school level. Pure simple assault. Press charges & handle accordingly.

Number 2 like previously put he did it a soccer match last year and turn around and did it again. Obviously he has anger issues or any issues that you listed above that are greater than sports... get him the help he needs before returning onto a field. Obviously they neglected that once already. So I agree punish the school entirely. Fire the coach. Send out a message. UIL better if they want to keep referees and recruit more because there is already a shortage in the state and this incident won’t help them out any if the punishment is light. exsoftballplayer, RETIREDFAN1, 2wedge and 1 other

Byrdiug
Horrible incident. Kid should be jailed. Kid should be expelled and removed from school. Players and coaches should not be punished because of the barbaric behavior of another 18 year old kid. Truly selfish and idiotic behavior of one student will be a stain on the school and it’s programs for a long time. SmashMouth

Especially after finding out that this is not a one time incident? That this is a repeat of behavior that occurred in another sport.
