2006 GHFCA COMBINE WRAP-UP

Several things happened on Saturday, one a lot of the best players in the area showed up, two a lot of the coaches around the nation showed up. We saw players from Louisiana, Indiana, Mississippi and all over Texas. There were coaches from all the in-state schools and out of state schools such as Southern (La.), Southern Illinois, Illinois, Utah, Oklahoma, and a whole bunch more. There were some very impressive 40 times and some excellent bench presses along with the good shows at vertical and shuttle times. However a pair of players seemed to really turn heads at the event and had the WOW effect going for them. Cy Fair's Sam McGuffie turned in a 4.32 and a 4.35 40 time, a 3.83 shuttle time, a 41.8 vertical and 15 reps on the bench. He is our MVP of the event with outstanding times in all events which is more impressive when you consider he is just a SOPHOMORE. For the big guys you have to give it up for A&M Consolidated's Drew Dudley. He ran a 4.6 in the 40 and had 31 reps on the bench press, he combined size and speed like few have. To both players we wish congratulations on their showings.

However, that is not all, the list of players who had a great day is too long to mention, however we will give you some of the best in the bench and 40-yard that we have been able to track. We apologize to any player who we missed. Last, FANTASTIC job by Tim Teykl, the Cinco Ranch staff, the Stratford Staff, the Nimitz staff and all the rest of the coaches who were there. To put together an event with 2314 registered players and a ton of walk-ins with very little problems is a true testament to how well these coaches did on this day. TEXASPREPXTRA.COM wish to give our thanks to the coaches for their great job on the day.

I've already talked about him on another thread, but D. Johnson is going to be a beast this year. He has as many if not more tools (strength, speed, size, instincts) than anyone who has played defense at Nederland. He's only a junior this year, so it's too early to claim it, but I'm telling you he has the tools to be one of the best.
