I see this as a hard fought low scoring game. Huntsville will probably have the best defense the Eagles have seen this year. BH will have to be lights out on Defense to stay in this game. Huntsville also counters with a pretty good offense, so yeah this one has me worried.  Thoughts?

The Huntsville defense is dominating.  They give up 8.8 points per game.  The most an opponent has scored this year is 17.  Barbers Hill has a good offense and they are capable of doing that.

The Hornet offense doesn’t have to do much other than not lose the game.  The defense will give them opportunities and they just need to score a few times, and not fumble deep in their own territory.

Huntsville defense is just too strong and will be the difference here.  I do think BH can keep it close, but they will need some turnovers to pull the upset.  I’ll say 27-17.

I think record wise yes, but it’s hard to tell because those they lost to last year they didn’t play this year except for consolidated which lost in the first round. One impressive win they have this year is over a pretty salty CE king team. Regardless BH will need a huge effort to get past the hornets

I just checked the stats on the Huntsville/ Nac game and Hornets has 185 yards total offense. Their QB had a 39% completion percentage if you can believe the stats online. BH just needs to find a way to move the ball on the Hornets and not let their defense set them up in short yardage. In other words don’t play offense like you did in the Crosby game! BH has a shot in this game if they come in firing on all cylinders

I don’t think the Hornets have or will ever look like a Manvel team lol. Hornets are a well coached Defensive team , but to Compare them offensively to Manvel?

Lol, have you seen them? Last year BH was a lot better then this year team. Huntsville looks pretty impressive with a huge line, decent QB, good RB, and WR that nobody in our district could handle. That’s without talking about their defense. Last year we kept up with Manvel most of the game with a lot better offense then what we have this year.

I saw the Hornets last year against Crosby , but just some game recaps of them this year. I may be wrong , but offensively they look average to me and only gaining 180 yards and 29 point against Nac tells me they are no Manvel. Their Defense is what’s impressive to me and is what has them undefeated.

Huntsville didn’t come off as a dominant team. They have weapons but far from unbeatable. There QB is not accurate at all. They have a good RB. And a big OL but that aside not real impressed on the offensive side. The film I have does not show the defense so I will not comment on them. At this point in the playoffs nobody is going to be a push over. So the Eagles will have to play a good game. But that goes for any team that plays!!

Heard all about how great big bad Manvel was 2 years ago when they were averaging like 58 points a game.  They played Huntsville and scored 10.  Blowout at Reliant Stadium.

The Huntsville offense can gain 180 yards and still win a playoff game by 29.  I don’t think they showed the playbook last week. Didn’t need to.  BH needs to focus on how they are going to score, not on how average the Hornet offense is.

Easy, Eazy😃 Don't care about 2 years ago just this year. Huntsville will be a tough win and could smoke BH, but I hope we can stay with them late and steel this one.

I totally agree.  Huntsville could win by a lot, but there is no doubt BH is capable of pulling the upset.  BH will likely need to get some turnovers and score first to get the lead. Or at least stay even. Huntsville hasn’t had to play from behind, so not sure how their “average” offense would respond.

    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
