Guest abovetherim Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I was told about a very exciting student focused event (the public is invited) to kick off the men's and women's basketball season. This thing sounds first class and should be a lot of fun. There is be a press release probably Monday with much more information but there are a few things I can share with you guys.1. The dinning hall on campus will close for dinner the day of the event so students who normally eat there will have to go to the Montagne Center for dinner. 2. Yes, I could be wrong here but I believe the food is free of charge to those who attend the event.3. Coach Tidwell, Coach Roccaforte and President Simmons will be speaking at the event.3. The Cardinals drill team will be performing.4. There will be a slam dunk competition for the men and 3-points shooting contest for the ladies.5. Two local radio stations will be at the event. In summary, this event is student focused and there will be some fun games to keep the students entertained. There will be free food for the students but I'm not exactly sure that the food is free for the public. The students, alumni, fans, and supporters of Lamar will get their first glimpse of the Stud athletes Coach Roccaforte and Coach Tidwell have assembled for this coming season. The two head coaches along with our esteemed school president will speak to the crowd. The beautiful and talented drill team will perform during the event. Be looking for an official press release from Lamar around Monday. This sounds like a grand event and I'm sure I've left out some details so please be watching for the official press release from the school.
LamarJunior Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Abovetherim, I hear there will be a Carnival starting around 5:00 the day of this event. I haven't seen any posters around campus but I'm sure they will have them up next week. Good news and this sounds like a blast. I'll be bringing my girlfriend and she is even excited about the event. As soon as she heard about it she stated, "I want to go!".
UNLV Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I know I have a one track mind on this subject, however LU needs to mention football. This would excite the public about Lamar. A community pride feeling that would increase attendance at sporting events.
