Beaumont United 76 Silsbee 56/FINAL

I think I was impressed with how BU played defense more than anything. Not a lot of teams can handle that. You take the ball to the rim, there's most always 3 or 4 long arms that can jump to meet you. Nothing comes easy.

We had two 6`3s and a 6`4 kid that sat on the bench most the game. Wish we had at least tried to match them in size under the boards.

Good news for Silsbee is they won't see another team with even half the talent BU has for the rest of the season. I can easily see United winning state this year and next year.

It's a good learning experience for our young kids. Just keep working.

Good news for Silsbee is they won't see another team with even half the talent BU has for the rest of the season, if the season includes the playoffs, Region 3 will have to deal with Faith Family. Faith Family has played a monster of a non-district schedule this year, losing some very close games against 6A teams.  My personal  opinion is Faith Family is the team to beat in 4A, only COVID-19 (if the season is cut short for COVID-19) can stop this team.  I bleed Crimson & Gold but this is not Yates year.

I can easily see United winning state this year and next year.  Hightower will have a say in 5A, Region 3

There is no substitute for experience.  Huffman has a lot of it.  HH could win region 3.  They don't want no parts of Faith Family, but then who does?   No team at the 4A level that's for sure.

The season is young yet.  District play hasn't really kicked in yet.  There are always one of two surprises in the playoffs.  Covid 19 is a factor.  Who knows how this thing will end?   So the Tigers need to ride with it.  See where it goes.

BU's  David Green is a defensive minded coach.  He knows how to squeeze an opportunity with good defense.   He used that strategy when he went to state out of Fort Bend.  That team he won state with at North Shore was a good defensive team.  So it is no surprise to me that BU is a good defensive team as well.

Still gotta play the games.  BU very well could take state in 5A.  I would love to see BU play FFA.  Ik,  FFA is technically 4A, but still, that would be a good game to see.

Jacey J" needs to get a attitude.! 6'7 He needs to be grabbing that ball and coming down swinging arms. Get the ball out qwick and get down court. You can be nice an gentle off the court but be a monster on the court. They start catching the elbows they will get out the way...! But big difference from the last game way to go Silsbee.

I think Silsbee goes 3 rounds deep in the playoffs

Nawww I’m seeing improvement every game with those young guys and I think they’ll just keep better and better throughout this season ! I wouldn’t be surprised if they made it to the regional final ! I mean I don’t know too much about the region but those kids gone be just fine IMO

From the article: The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously last week to become a "sanctuary city," categorically withholding any municipal assistance to federal immigration authorities despite a bevy of illegal immigrants arrested there for violent crimes and even violence against children this year.  The 13-0 vote last Tuesday comes weeks after President-elect Donald Trump's ballot-box victory and in the same year that dozens of illegal immigrants were picked up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers in the L.A. metro area for murder, homicide and assault against children.  So far this year, Los Angeles ERO has arrested 1,263 illegal immigrants in the metro area so far this year, and 715 of them had criminal convictions, according to ICE data. The agency gathered 19,726 noncitizens between 2021 and 2024, and 7,255 of them, about 36%, had prior criminal convictions. That includes 26 illegal immigrants with pending charges or convictions for murder, homicide and assault against children who were arrested in the Los Angeles area during a nationwide operation from Jan. 16-28, ICE said.

    • Take a look at this chart.  It shows how many kids per year transfer outside of the District WHILE LIVING IN GCCISD DISTRICT.  They reside within GCCISD, but attend school outside of it.  These numbers are straight from TEA. “TEA maintains data on students living in Goose Creek CISD who attend other public schools”, So we’re not even talking about kids whose families move or who use MeeMaw’s address.  That’s 100+ per year who still live in GCCISD and hitch a ride out to BHISD and back each day.  A lot of cars in that car rider line out of Baytown.  You think at least 10% of them aren’t athletes?  Maybe more like 20%?  C’mon, man, it’s plain to see and like I’ve been telling other folks ALL the successful programs do it.  It’s just gonna get a LITTLE harder to do it after 8/1/25, that’s all.  Won’t stop it, might not even slow it down much, but it’s gonna affect things a bit.
    • I forgot basketball is Division 1 and 2 now. So BH may have a chance
    • BHISD isn’t all Riceland, there’s plenty of cheaper houses, trailer parks, RV Parks, etc and I hear there’s Apartment Complexes going in soon.  Also, you don’t even have to move there as long as you’ve got a MeeMaw or Auntie in BHISD zone, you just sign an affidavit that your kid is living with MeeMaw or Auntie and they’re in.  Don’t take my word for it, I already posted GCCISDs numbers showing twice as many GCCISD kids are transferring to BHISD than to the other surrounding Districts, 100+ per year.  If only 10% of those are for athletic purposes that’s 10 athletes a year minimum and I’m willing to bet it’s a little higher.   What’s also true and the point I was trying to make there is that as Riceland fills up it’s definitely going to change BHISD.  Those homes start at $500k and run up past $1M.  Gonna be a lot less “Country” and a lot more White Collar.
