Guest doubles_gun Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 Its not the steroid drug we need to be worrying about, its the weed and alcohol. Maybe 2% of athletes in HS do steroids, but im willing to bet that more than 50% pertake in another types of illegal substance. What happened to busting your butt in offseason and all summer to get bigger stronger and faster. Why does everyone throw in the Steroid topic when a team is successful? What about work ethic and additude. Give the kids and coaches some credit instead of falsely accusing them of taking steroids or providing steroids.

bronco1 Posted October 9, 2007 Report Posted October 9, 2007 The public shouldn't here anything, remember these are minors and this will be medical information. Kids will just start disappearing from the field. I would like to think that no one from our school would test positive. That said I don't believe that there is one school that doesn't have at least one athlete using. It is rampant and people are going to be surprised, even some parents. To echo the sentiments of double-guns and stevieray alcohol is a much bigger problem. I would be willing to bet close to 90% drink regularly. Steroid testing is a must in order to protect our kids. Some dominant schools will get hit hard. You have to remember it is not all about kids just bulking up, once that stuff is in your system it is like speed. It increases stamina and strength, 4th quarter is nothing to a football player who is juicin.
77 Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Its good what they're doing..But I don't think it'll be too random, they know who they want to test. Heck, its usually obvious who is on it and who isn't. A lot of these kids wouldn't know where to get them anyway, well not in the smaller towns at least. I bet A LOT of teams from bigger areas get hit REAL hard by this. I dont know about the small towns not knowing where to get it, if you remember just a few months ago there was a small town right here in the golden triangle that was getting plenty.

If you want it, you can get it. The Smalltown, USA stuff is naive and doesn't exist. I sure wish it did but anyone that believes that is kidding himself.
