Legendary PN-G Coach Doug Ethridge Passes Away

Prayers to the family of Coach Ethridge and to Indian Nation. His name is one of great legend in this community. Not only was a he a great leader for the Indians but he was a great man. He loved the kids and this community.

Remember I had my seat in the 'Dome, 1975 semi finals, the Indians beat undefeated San Antonio Lee, 28-0. It was surgical. This team was a well oiled machine, precision, well coached. Typical Ethridge stamp. Prayers from Orange.

The greatest Chief to ever lead the PN-G Indians. The Ethridge family is one of the strongest pillars upholding the core values of PN-GISD - Honor, Pride, and Tradition. Prayers to the Ethridge family and to all of the PN-G Indians mourning Coach Ethridge.

Prayers to Indian Nation.  Great coach.  I will always remember the game against Houston Memorial in the dome.  Father, son, against father, son. Ethridge’s son was QB and Koening son was QB.  I grew up competing with Les Koening when he was at HF.

Went to the Dome several times to watch the Indians play under him.   A well oiled machine.   In those days many referred to them as the University of PNG.

I just found out that the year before Ethridge won the State Championship at Hobbs, NM, he played for the State Championship against Artesia.  But, he did not win that one.

One of the greatest coaches and one of the finest men I ever knew. God bless his family, that includes all of his PNG Indian family, on his passing.
