Speaking of Skeeters

Anybody else try the Thermocell mosquitos repellent device?

I have asked this before but couldn't find it again. Anyway, I have and it seems to work pretty good, as long as it isn't windy. But, if its windy you usually don't have to worry about skeeters.

I bought 1 last yr after hearing how good they are but at this time I can;t comment one way or the other as I havn't used it. I was talking with our land owner who said he hunted in Canada last yr and the mosq were horrible, he mentioned the mosq to the outfitter, the outfitter had several for clients who didn't have their own and he hooked him up with 1. He told me he was amazed how good it worked and would never leave home without 1 again.

I got one for Christmas last year, but it looked so bogus, I never opened it.  I think I better get that thing out and try it.

I used on in archery season last yr and it worked very well and didn't spook deer.

I believe that they work because I have talked to several people that have used them (not just hearsay) and they all say that they work. I was wondering out spooking the deer though.

How close have you gotten to deer while using it? I have been within about 15 feet of deer while bow hunting and I am always worried about scent spooking them.

hey i had one they work amazingly!!! keeps em back pronto but carefull in the box stand if you got small windows and thur aint that much of a breeze they can get stowt and make yuh sick (bad exsperince)

Yeah, they do have an element in them. Corbon monoxide and the fumes of the pad could build up.

How close have you gotten to deer while using it? I have been within about 15 feet of deer while bow hunting and I am always worried about scent spooking them.

I've gotten them within bow range and never had any problems.  Remember that if the deer is in a position to smell a Thermacell he can also smell you.  You should be using the wind to your advantage anyway.
