Silsbee year in and year out would beat at least half of those teams.I will have to agree with you on that.Mike You know as well as I Silsbee has never got the respect they have deserved statewide...it is only when Silsbee starts beating teams that are bigger than them, then the so called experts rank them >
bullets13 Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I'm an HJ alum, and some of silsbee's fans have really been getting on my nerves on here, and i'll still say that they deserve a top ten ranking to start the year. when you look at the year that they had last year, and how close that they came to state, i think these rankings are absurd.

Last year we (West Hardin) were not listed on anybody's top 20 pre-season poll. Then by the end of the year we were somewhere between #1 - #4 on everybody's poll. I'll trade an October ranking to be playing in early March any day!

In the 3 years that Silsbee has been in 3A, they have made it to the regional finals twice, losing to Diboll 56-55 in '04 and losing in overtime last year to state champ HJ. Everyone said that was really the state championship game. You would think the Tigers would come in somewhere in the top 10, much less the top 25.Like you said Jay, no respect.

Very surprised to see Goodrich ranked No. 1 in 1a-II, that won't stay too long. East Chambers and Kountze holding steady in 2a as usual, and HJ in 3a. Can't wait to see the season Big Sandy has to offer, ranked 2nd in 1a-I.

Guest orangeman Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I think politics definitely plays a roll in this as well. I know Goodrich started last year at #2 in the polls and after about 4 or 5 losses, before January, they were still sitting at #2.

Now i'll be the first to admit i don't spend as much time in b-ball as i do in football and other sports, but that's just what i've noticed. I do know that the only HJ fan who's opinion is important to me (me) has tried to be respectful and keeps repeating that we just need to wait and see what happens.
