Any top 25 3A poll that doesn't include Silsbee is a joke. Silsbee year in and year out would beat at least half of those teams.

You know as well as I Silsbee has never got the respect they have deserved statewide...it is only when Silsbee  starts beating teams that are bigger than them, then the so called experts rank them >

I'm an HJ alum, and some of silsbee's fans have really been getting on my nerves on here, and i'll still say that they deserve a top ten ranking to start the year.  when you look at the year that they had last year, and how close that they came to state, i think these rankings are absurd.

You can't put a whole lot of stock in pre-season rankings. Last year we (West Hardin) were not listed on anybody's top 20 pre-season poll. Then by the end of the year we were somewhere between #1 - #4 on everybody's poll. I'll trade an October ranking to be playing in early March any day!

Yea, I just don't get it. In the 3 years that Silsbee has been in 3A, they have made it to the regional finals twice, losing to Diboll 56-55 in '04 and losing in overtime last year to state champ HJ. Everyone said that was really the state championship game. You would think the Tigers would come in somewhere in the top 10, much less the top 25.

I will agree with everyone in saying that it is strange to not see Silsbee on the list at all. Very surprised to see Goodrich ranked No. 1 in 1a-II, that won't stay too long. East Chambers and Kountze holding steady in 2a as usual, and HJ in 3a. Can't wait to see the season Big Sandy has to offer, ranked 2nd in 1a-I.

In my case its not so much the rankings, it is the lack of respect that Silsbee gets statewide.

I think politics definitely plays a roll in this as well. I know Goodrich started last year at #2 in the polls and after about 4 or 5 losses, before January, they were still sitting at #2.

from what i've seen, silsbee's fans (just a few) have started more of the trash talk, and a lot of the HJ noise has been defending themselves.  Now i'll be the first to admit i don't spend as much time in b-ball as i do in football and other sports, but that's just what i've noticed. I do know that the only HJ fan who's opinion is important to me (me) has tried to be respectful and keeps repeating that we just need to wait and see what happens.
