Oct. 14, 2007 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Sophomore Linda Persson placed second and the Lamar University women's golf team finished fifth following Sunday's final round at the LPGA International Xavier Invitational at the LPGA International Champions Course (Par-72, 6,225-yards). A Hollviken, Sweden native, Persson held the 36-hole lead but shot a final round 77 to finish in second place with a 54-hole score of 3-over 73-69-77--219. Ann Maness of Coastal Carolina closed with a final round 75 to claim medalist honors with a one-stroke victory over Persson with a 54-hole score of 2-over 218. Florida Atlantic fired a final round 295 to surpass 36-hole leader Coastal Carolina for the team title with a 54-hole total of 906. Coastal Carolina was second at 909, followed by Missouri State (910) and Tennessee-Chattanooga (910) and Lamar, who posted a 54-hole score of 305-301-307--913. Therese Nilsson, a junior from Vellinge, Sweden, shot a final round 77 and tied for fourth place with a 54-hole score of 72-73-77--222. Channing Norton, a junior from Cleveland, shot a final round 76 and tied for 33rd place at 81-78-76--235. Hillary Zeigler, a senior from Livingston, closed with a final round 77 and tied for 51st at 79-87-77--243. Bonnie Howard, a senior from Carrollton, shot a final round 82 and tied for 63rd at 85-81-82--248. The Lady Cardinals continue their fall schedule Oct. 22-23 at the Nicholls State Invitational.
