Wes57 Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 I know this isn't football related but on Oct. 8th, Lance Cpl Jeremy Burris, who grew up in Liberty, was killed in Iraq defending our country. Driving home today I was proud to see American flags along the highway between Dayton and Liberty almost every 20 feet or so. They brought his body home today and his funeral will be tomorrow. My sympathies and prayers go out to his family.

dme1111 Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 may the LORD keep our men and women abroad safe and bring them home safely.
dove Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 The funeral was today and the procession came through downtown Liberty. People were lining the streets to show their respect. Police officers and Sheriff's Deputies were standing at attention at just about every intersection. Complete strangers were standing amongst each other holding American flags. The fire department had the ladder on the firetruck fully extended up waving a huge American flag. It was nice to see so many come to show their respect. It was a slap of reality that our freedom is not free. May God bless this family and all of our soilders. Prayers from Liberty.
