WOS95 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 i think a pre-game prayer is fine, and if u choose not to pray that's ok too. its a personal choice. when i was in school we used to pray before every game, and i thought it was fine.
bronco1 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 I've never failed to see a group of players and coaches who didn't kneel and pray when one of their teamates or oponents were down on the field with a serious injury. All smack talk aside, when we are faced with a situation that is beyond our control, that is when we realize that God is God and we are not. DME1111, please pray for the Raiders this week. I won't ask you to pray for them when they play your beloved Bulldogs.I was thinking the same thing. Nobody wants to pray until something goes wrong. Asking for God to protect and prevent is much better than heal or revive.
dme1111 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 very well said bronco1. I know I should take the time to pray before every game both for myself and the players and coaches. I can't count the times I have lost my cool not to mention my witness at a football game. :-[ :-[ :-[
aTm_1989 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 I agree with 1111. This country has become too politically correct. I was riding in to work last Friday listening to Big D and Bubba. And there was a prayer sent out from that station to all the football players in our area. I think that is very honorable.
Guest airitout123 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 My brother-in-law told me once about being at game and was in the PNG stands. During the moment of silence, several members of the PNG band started playing Amazing Grace. He said it made the hairs stand on his arm. I do not know how long ago this was or where the game was played.
83_Alumni Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 I beleive prayer before games is good. If someone doesn't want to pray, it's certainly their right not to. We could get carried away with "what this country was founded on" and all that, but to stick to the topic, when could talking to God be bad? Just my opinion. Well said Big Mo 44
