For my Jasper Fans,Was Danny Lauve that bad or is Brooks that good?

When Coach Brooks left he left one of the most powerful teams in EastTexas,Lauve just got two years of a teams that had been together since 7th grade and could win games with there talent.When they left lavue could not get those boys right and brooks come's in and we are winning.Same Group of Kids hay I could be wrong but I don,t think so.

While it might be better then last year, a 3 - 3 record isn't anything to go saying who is the better coach. There is still a potential for Jasper to lose the next 4 games.

Yes Mr. Land you are wrong. The seniors that were on the team that went to state were freshmen when Brooks left, Lauve had them for four offseasons.  After that year there was a talent drop as well as a numbers drop off.  And as for this year there is only one more win than last year so far the rest is yet to be seen. This years team has alot more overall talent than last year also, and some better senior leadership which last year team with the exception of a few players had very little of.

Bottom line is that both Brooks and Lauve are good coaches and unles they coaching the exact same kids you are comparing apples and oranges.

And most of the kids that are playing this year did not play last year do to the way they were being coached.I think coach Brooks just understands the kids of Jasper just a little better and they really wanted to play for coach Brooks and I think it shows a little bit on the filed.

That's true...but Brooks gets a ton of credit from me for making the adjustments he did. He seems to have a great feel for what he wants to do and knows how to make it happen.

Actually I believe the only players on this years team who were not in the program last year is William Brooks Coach Brooks' son, and one of the Rawls boys who moved back to Jasper this summer. I may have missed someone though.

I agree with you very much about all the Jasper fans should pull together for the common goal of a state championship. But FANS should pull together for that goal regardless of who the coach is or anything else.

But this thread seemed to have been started to stir things up more than anything else.

Well said.  Danny Lauve was a very successful coach.  Show me what Brooks has accomplised that Lauve did not.  Jasper is a team that probably will not make the playoffs this year.
